Goldendoodles: Everything About Purchase, Care, Nutrition, Behavior and Training (Complete Pet Owner's Manual) Paperback – January 1, 2009

Before I adopted my Goldendoodle three years ago, I did some online Doodle research and found an ebook by the author, Edie MacKensie. It was the most informative material I had read on the breed. I had some questions and so I wrote to her. To my surprise and eternal gratefullness, she answered all of my questions and helped me find the most wonderful breeder who led me to Bingo, my Goldendoodle dream come true.When I saw that she wrote a paperback I purchased it immediately. Edie has such an amazing insight into the breed. The book was extremely informative on all levels, from puppyhood on. The pictures are the best I've ever seen of the breed, or any breed for that matter. I found out that my Bingo has many traits typical of the breed such as bringing me a bone when I come home or what I just learned is called table surfing, when Bingo finds things on tables he shouldn't and plays keep away!Overall, this is a great book that I would recommend to anyone either considering owning a Goldendoodle, or to someone who already has the pleasure and wants to enjoy a good read as well as learn some new insight about your dogs traits.

This book is excellent for new Goldendoodle owners. It provides clear and concise information about everything you will need to know about your Goldendoodle. Chapters about preparing for bringing home your new puppy are especially useful. Other topics are covered as well including training, health care, and caring for aging dogs. It has many colorful pictures of Goldendoodles. My 10-year-old granddaughter, who will soon be getting a Goldendoodle puppy, liked the book very much.

On the cover of this charming little book appear the words, "complete pet owner's manual". Readers looking for advice on raising their first Goldendoodle will, indeed, find this manual complete. Everything from bringing the new puppy home to caring for an aging dog is between the covers of this compelling little book. The sidebars throughout the book offer tips that are pertinent to new dog owners as well as those who have raised and loved these dogs for decades. Over the years I have purchased dog books at twice the price and more. This little gem is not only a valued resource, it is also a bargain.

Having been involved in a situation in the past where more knowledge of an unfamiliar breed would have been very helpful, I bought this book especially to find out what health issues there might be with Goldendoodles. It was exactly what I was looking for - I'll be forwarned and not at the mercy of a distracted vet - but not very reassuring.I realize most breeds have vulnerabilities, but I was hoping for fewer because of the hybrid vigor expected with doodles. Apparently not necessarily so - they are subject to something called bloat, which sounds dreadful, but which I will now be prepared for when my doodle puppy comes home in a week.In short, a well put-together, informative book, but to someone who endured two dog deaths last year, not comforting.

Was skeptical about getting this book mostly because I thought it would be boring to go through. It is actually a very easy read and has great commentary about all the possible health issues the dog can have. I will keep it around for sure as a reference guide. It is the first place I go anytime I have a quick thought about if what the dog is doing is normal.

If you have, had or may someday have, a doodle, you will love this book. You know who you are. Doodles are addictive. This book gives good information on the Goldendoodle breed along with information on the possible problems which you may encounter. I love this book. The cover picture says it all...what's not to love about that!

Got this book to read prior to feting our goldendoodle puppy! I loved it! I am sure you could find this info from blogs across the internet, but I wanted a trusted and proofed source which this was. I would recommend it to goldendoodle owners and soon to be owners! It's a quick read that will take you from pup to late life stages!

The book was perfect!I am getting a Goldendoodle myself and I bought this book to give me more information on the mix. This was a great book! I loved it and the training should be much easier thanks to the traning advice! I recommend this book to everyone!!

Great information if your thinking about getting a golden doodle.

Dieses Buch ist sehr gut und enthält viele gute Tips zur Erziehung. Man muss allerdings Englisch lesen können. Es ist in sehr gut lesbarem Englisch und auch in einem gut lesbaren Schreibstil geschrieben, nicht schwierig zu Lesen. Ich kann dieses Buch nur empfehlen für Alle die interessiert sind in Golden Doodles, oder sich einen Golden Doodle kaufen wollen. Auch die Golden Doodle Züchter, bei denen wir unseren Hund gekauft haben, haben dieses Buch und empfehlen es weiter. Es ist deutlich besser als das Buch 'Doodle : Charakter, Erziehung, Gesundheit' von Andreas Werner auf Deutsch.

Good insight into Golden Doodles with lots of good pictures.

Inhalt, Aufmachung, Nutzen der Ratschläge sind jeweils hervorragend, außerdem ist dieses Buch eine sehr angenehme Lektüre.Leider benötigt man mehr als durchschnittliche Englischkenntnisse, um an diesem Buch Spaß zu haben.Dabei gibt es auf deutsch nichts Adäquates.Dieses Buch hat somit nur einen einzigen Nachteil:es ist noch nicht in deutscher Sprache verfügbar.
