It works with official NES controllers including the NES Advantage.
It works. Not sure why there's so much hate for this product in the Amazon reviews. Two official NES controllers can be used on the NES Classic Edition with no noticeable lag. Also, the NES Advantage controller does work with this adapter as long as you only plug in one of the two NES Advantage controller cords. For those unfamiliar with the NES Advantage, it has two controller cords so it can be used to control both player 1 and player 2 without being unplugged. There's a switch on the controller to determine which player the device is controlling. Just make sure you only plug in one of the two controller cords. If you're using the cord with the white stripe, make sure the NES Advantage is set to player 1. If you're using the black cord, set it to player 2. Do not plug them both in at the same time. As tempting as it is, the NES Classic will wig out with all kinds of random inputs. Otherwise, all other functionality of the NES Advantage is enabled. Even the turbo buttons and adjustable speed dials.A solid product that loses one star for not retaining the two player functionality of the NES Advantage. If you aren't planning to use this with the NES Advantage, it works perfectly. If you are planning to use the NES Advantage, it still works great and as far as I can tell this is your only available option.

Does Not Function With Multiple Button Inputs
Tested on the NES ClassicWorked terribly. Will not process more than one button press at the same time. For example, if you are moving left in Castlevania and press the A button to jump, you will jump but no move forward. It prefers A over the D-Pad but when pressing B and the D-Pad at the same time, the character will freeze and not move or attack. Prefers start over everything else. Sometimes it would press start automatically. Also connections to all buttons weren't consistent. Sometimes when moving the character would stop moving for a few frames then keep moving causing an awkward jittering of animation as well. This was all tested with a regular NES controller. Also tested with an NES Advantage stick as well (that's why I bought this device) and it had all sorts of issues. Too long to list here. Both regular NES controller and Advantage stick work well on other devices including the NES.Also when I tried unplugging the controllers, the front plate started popping out from its hinges. The NES controllers need very little muscle to unug and I don't want to worry that I'll break the device every time I want to play with it.

It works
The main thing is that it works. A bit flimsy as the casing and chip popped out. Overall, glad to pay the $15 so that the old controllers could be used instead of buying a second controller and 2 extensions.

Finally! The Power Glove works on my NES Mini!
Works great! I had no issues with this using my old Nintendo controllers, the NES advantage and even the power glove! (the power glove worked as well as it ever did, which isn't super great, but that's not the fault of the retro fighter adapter) this thing works awesome! It's the next best thing to using the official Nintendo branded NES mini controllers. Now I can use the real NES controllers that have a great build that have lasted 30 years and with a great cord length! No lag noticed, everything just felt perfect!

Love it.
Hooked up 2 original NES controllers to 2 wii remotes to play NES games on the Wii. Beware to any Wii modders, these are near useless on any NES emulator, and will only work properly on virtual console games, so the entire nes library won't be available to you.

Worthless Junk
Kept dropping button inputs. Tried playing Mario 3 and couldn't drop behind the first white block because while holding the down button, every second or two it would stop registering my input and Mario would stand up for a quick moment. Tried some Super C and you would constantly stop running to the right for a quick moment. Then to top it off I went to remove the worthless thing from my system and the piece of metal decided to stay behind in my player 1 port. Fun times.
