Excellent!
I have always been interested in biographies and believe that everyone has a story, even though we may not be celebrities. This is a wonderful book for anyone who is looking to tell their story for their children, grandchildren or other family members. I want my children to know who I was and where I, and they, came from. This book is so well laid out and makes it easier and more interesting for the reader hoping to tackle his/her own life story. The suggested reading of listed biographies was great and I thoroughly enjoyed the examples of the author's students that she used.I highly recommend this book.

Very helpful for all ages.
Lois Daniel taught classes specifically dealing with writing memoirs, and life stories, not only to older generations, but to younger ones as well. As a young adult, I found this book to be helpful with gathering thoughts/memories and piecing them together. This is a great book to start anyone off with, if they want to write an autobiography or memoir. Hopefully within the next few years, I'll be publishing my :crosses fingers: BEST SELLING autobiography. We'll see though!-Jerri L. Butler

a great way to organize your story.
I enjoy reading this book but haven't finished it yet. Plan to use it as a reference when I start to write my story.

Mostly intuitive, maybe more appropriate for YA/student readers
It's a "pleasant" book with mostly obvious information. Nicely written for students and/or YA readers. I'm not sure that a more sophisticated writer--however inexperienced in memoir-writing--would find useful more than a point or two.

Great prompts, great examples.
Very useful for helping to organize your memories into entertaining and readable accounts, whether for family use or with a view to publishing commercially. Although written some years ago, I found much of it very useful. Lots of encouraging prompts and even reading through the examples of other folks work often acted as prompts.

Highly recommended...
I had been thinking about writing about my life for some years, but I set very high standards for myself, and failed to measure up - so became discouraged and de-motivated.Then I got hold of this book, and the very practical advice and instructions have encouraged me to start in earnest. It is easy to read and follow. Lois Daniel is a natural teacher, and a real motivator, and gives interesting examples written by some of her pupils, and drawn from her own experiences. If you have the desire to leave a testament for your children and grandchildren, you will find this volume invaluable.
