Love this!
I'm a professional commercial / editorial photographer but I know nothing about rails / sliders as I've yet to need one with stills alone. I have an upcoming job asking for stereoscopic images and when researching the best methods it seems a multi-burst on the same plane is best. YouTubers seem to be doing this hand-held but this is a commercial job so that is not going to fly. I figured a slider would be the best way to get the most precise result. I ordered this and all I can say is it feels extremely smooth and is certainly stable enough on my tripod for this purpose. For full stability two tripods on each end of course would be best. I love the fold out legs! Very well designed IMHO. It feels like a lightweight but strong little piece of gear and I'm really looking forward to shooting with it. I also do food photography and I've been starting to get into some motion work. I feel like this will be great for shots that just need to pan into the scene in a smooth way.

Works better than expected
I have to admit that for the price, I didn't have high expectations for this slider. After a few uses, I'm surprised that it works as well as it does. The movement is very smooth and and the resulting video looks great. Moving the camera to get smooth video takes a little bit of practice, but if you're looking for 5-9 seconds of footage, it's actually quite easy. The length is just about right. I could actually use 48-60" but that would be heavy, hard to balance and difficult to transport. Why not 5-stars? For most shots, I need to put this on a tripod. Because of the length, it actually works best with two tripods, however moving the entire setup is difficult with two tripods attached. I ended up using just one tripod since I never seem to have a torso-height length of table or countertop handy to use the legs on the slider. The problem then becomes keeping 5-7 lb. of camera and attached gear from tipping over the entire rig when the camera is at the far ends of the slider. Adding weight suspended from the tripod helps, but then another problem becomes apparent—the slider flexes. As the camera moves, the slider flexes just enough to give the video the feel that the camera moved along an arc. To correct the flex, I added support arms fixed to the tripod legs. It works, but now the whole rig is nearly as unwieldy as having two tripods. There's a clamp on the slider car that keeps it from moving. I'm concerned that the clamp could damage the carbon fiber tubes, especially during transport. The zip-up bag that comes with it, provides minimum protection of the slider and does nothing to hold the slider car in place. A decent plastic double rifle case does a better job of protecting the slider while also keeping the slider car held in place. So now, after spending an additional $90, this slider is now more usable and easier to transport.

Neewer’s Best Slider
Just a great, well made, manual slider. Extremely smooth, and the 60cm is the perfect size for a single tripod, if that’s what you’re intending to use for mounting. I’ll probably update this with a video, because coming from Neewer’s own 120cm track slider (the one with a single metal plate rail), this is heaven. There’s a reason this basic design is used on high end sliders (two poles, don’t know technical terms); the metal beam doesn’t allow for smooth sliding. The slider comes in a soft carrying case. It’s usable for me because I’m not a traveling professional, and it will suffice for transporting it in a car to and from locations. The materials used for the rails and the plate seem durable, as far as I can tell, and the sliding plate is large enough for bigger cameras. This is a huge deal, because even with a small SL2 and utilizing only the 60cm middle portion of the other slider, the camera was ripping the mount from the tripod, which is a very sturdy, professional video camera tripod. This slider doesn’t spin around as I use it on either end, so it’s as stable as your tripod and/or ball head.Overall, probably my favorite purchase on Amazon in quite a while. I’ve been ordering 10+ supposed high quality products a month, so that’s saying a lot. If I ever upgrade this, it’ll be a $1000 motorized Rhino slider, anything in between won’t necessarily be an upgrade for most people. Do not skimp and pay $20 less for a given length for a cheaper entry-level slider. Just my two cents.

First slider. Very nice "for the cost".
I have admittedly not used any other slider before, but deliberated for quite a while on which one to order, and scoured reviews for quite some time. For the money, I couldn't be happier with the purchase. It looks great, is very well made, and is quite smooth. But like anything else, it's a tool, not magic. So it definitely takes trial and error and several takes to get the pace and consistent tracking that you'd desire. But I imagine that's the case with any manual slider. You are also going to really want a decent fluid video head, so you can smoothly pan or tilt the camera as you slide. As others have said, the tension screw really doesn't control tension. It's either moving freely or locked. No real in-between. But I don't feel that's a real problem, because you want the smooth, free sliding action. Again, it just takes practice, especially when trying to move it slowly. I can't really speak to durability as I haven't had it long, or used it a ton. It's clearly not professional grade given the price, but it feels like it would hold up just fine with moderate use and care. But considering how long I waited to pull the trigger, I am completely satisfied with the look, build and feel.

EXCELENTE
