Atlas Games The Gloom Chronicles: War-Themed Wargame Expansion for 14+ Players

Having purchased all of the first edition and second edition versions of the gloom game, to include Gloomier, Cthulhu, and Fairy Tales, I was sorely disappointed in this release.1) The cards are card stock with the same "Shiny" effect as foil cards of other collectors games, this ranges from annoying to aggravating depending on the readability of the card. Black background with shiny pics and text... WTH...2) They are over sized compared to the regular Gloom cards. So they will not fit in your regular card carrier.3) The resealable packet / envelope that they come in is only slightly larger than the cards, this leads to the faces of the cards being abrased, or the edges scuffed while being removed from the envelope. Just cut the envelope open, and don't bother to try and reuse it.4) Mine came with scratches on the shiny faces of 6 of the cards, the scratches were easier to see than the card was to read.5) and this is the biggest issueThe expansion weighs heavily on the "story telling" aspect of the game, but fails to provide any "scoring system" or "feedback system" for the players. Why tell an engrossing tale if you still end up loosing the game. There is no mechanic that supports or rewards creativity, originality, or story telling.I really wanted to find something good from the cash I spent on this.But I guess the best description is I was a Fool parted from my Funds.
