Would you say this is the same as the pro advance one are better I cant decide

Not familiar with the pro advance system, but I fine this system to be a very good. I was looking for a system that allowed me to correct some putting problems and give me someway to practice this aspect of the game during the winter months.

Mine is missing the wedge, how can I get it?

Sorry to tell you that you bought the wrong mat. The same mistake like I had. Only ProAdvanced ProInfinity mat provides 6 wedges and many other good accessories. Varispeeds gave you nothing. My friends who bought ProInfinity mat one year ago recently got a couple of free new slope simulators which can change different angles. Their metal golf goal is an amazing design. I so regretted not to get ProInfinity mat at first time. Varispeed didn't change its products for so many years and they almost have no after-sale service. The training guide only has 2 pages which are totally useless. ProInfinity mat provides a training book of 20+ pages. I feel that Varispeed doesn't really care their customers' need. They only want the money.

Does the changing speeds actually work? If so, after months of use does it still change speed effectively?

The speed differences are subtle, but yes...and the presence of the nap is helpful, because you get visual feedback on two things from the "track" in the nap: 1) whether you've imparted sidespin (face angle NOT at 90 degrees to the path at address and 2) how much the putt "skids" (you need to get the ball rolling as quickly as possible).

will this work as needed if placed on carpet?

Mine was placed on Berber carpet with no issues
