Broke on the 1st day of use.
The filter itself is very good. The flow rate is fast enough to drink at will after filling, so there is no wait time. Take care to unscrew it gently when refilling the bottle from the stream. If you grab it by the filter and unscrew it forcefully you can destroy it. If used properly it's great.

It all comes down to the cap
I'd like to echo what most people have said here: the cap is the weakest link, and when it breaks, you really can't use the entire bottle anymore. The filter itself is great, useful, and really promotes hydration. Unfortunately, the cap breaks quickly and easily (this is my second one). Once it does, water comes out of the bottle all of the time in any position. This seems like such a basic engineering fix on the companies part for mere pennies per unit. I would caution against rigorous, non-casual use of this very useful/great filter until they upgrade the part to make it far more dependable.

Excellent filter but one terrible plastic cap design. Breaks after several uses.
I love the filter but I hate the cap. Why did the company make such a flimsy cap that breaks after several hikes? I guess it is a design to make you purchase a whole new cartridge! I wish they would redesign the plastic cap to be a better plastic and stronger so that it does not break after several uses. I would give this 5+ stars if the cap was designed better! Anyway, the cartridge is amazing and I use this everyday while hiking around our lake.

Good filter, fits 750ml Hydrapak, cap broke within hours.
This filter is great because it screws right onto the 750 mL hydrapak. This makes it an ultralight ultra compact system. The cap that comes on the filter is like a cheap cap that comes on a throw-away plastic water bottle though and broke hours after I took it on the trail. I've used this over a year now and other than the cheap terrible cap this system is great. Since the cap breaks easily I wouldn't leave it attached to your hydrapak or any other bottle while storing it in your backpack. Unless you like wet gear.

Small and easy to use.
This little filter is awesome because it will attach to the Hydropak 2 and 3 liter bladders. This makes it small, easy to carry, and you always have clean water available. If you buy the replacement cartridge and the 2 liter hydropak, it's cheaper than buying this with their 1 liter bottle and you get more water.

Easiest filter I've ever used.
Bought this for a backpacking trip in the Smoky Mountains with ten other people. We had 3 or 4 water filters with us, but we ended up using this one almost for everyone. I could do 2-3 bottles of water in the time it took the others to do 1 with their filter.I also bought a Hydrapak Seeker 2L collapsible bag to go with it. Filled up the collapsible bag with water from a creek, put the filter on the bag and squeezed water into a clean water bottle. So simple! We weren't out long enough to need to clean the filter, but I love how easy it is to simply swish the filter around in any water and it will clean it enough to work well again. I have another filter that is a great filter, but cleaning requires a special syringe and back-flushing, and is nowhere near this easy.Love this filter!

Great for long distance backpacking
Hiked the Pacific Crest Trail last year. We started out with a usb rechargeable steripen, which we loved for weight and reliability. We saw others hiking with the be free’s and switched due to speed and it being an extra water container. It needs to be rinsed frequently and depending on sources, replaced about monthly (two of us using it). For the price, ease of use and weight, we thought it was great.

Backpacker, tested inside
I purchased this and the HydraPak Seeker which it fits perfectly. The filter has a much higher and easier to start flow rate than the Sawyer. The Katadyn has an exposed filter unless you keep it connected to the bottle or store it in a bag but cleaning this requires no plunger like with the Sawyer. Per directions you just put water in the bag and swirl it around. The gallons filtered rating is much lower that the Sawyer but I can't imagine using this through 260 gallons or the Sawyer through 1000+ prior to replacement. My only nick is the cap is CLEAR so if you put it down remember where. It may be used as a twist off similar to a soda bottle or a hinge that is plastic and would be a weak point. I'm probably find a top I like on a drink bottle and use it instead.

Water
Best water filter on the market provided using for under a month hikes. 3x faster than swayer squeeze but only lasts 100l compared to 1000

Great taste. Great flow rate.
Fast delivery. Great product. Great taste. Better flow rate than Sawyer at first but slowed down a bit. Required more pressure after 3 or 4 days of filtering enough lake water for 3 people in 30 °C+ temps. But would still recommend over other filters.
