Sailor Jentle Black Ink Cartridge

I love the color flow and the fact that I can use these cartridges in my Wing Sung 628 fountain pen.

Bought these cartridges to go in a vintage Sailor pocket style pen and they work great. The ink is high quality, flows well, and produces a medium-dark black line on the paper. Dry time is about average compared to my other fountain pen inks (mostly Diamine, Robert Oster, and Iroshizuku).

I recently began using a Sailor fountain pen that was a gift from my mother-in-law back in the early 1980's. The pen is beautiful and feels wonderful in the hand, but I was never able to use it because I did not know where to find ink cartridges for it. Fast forward to today and finding the cartridges on the internet was easy. They were shipped quickly and I was finally able to use this pen for the first time. I have used other fountain pens, some wrote well enough while others weren't worth the effort. If you like using a fountain pen, the Jentle Ink from Sailor combined with the beautiful pen they produced are a wonderful experience. I am also using the same ink in bulk form, refilling the cartridges and the quality is the same in both bulk and cartridge form...high. If you have a Sailor brand fountain pen, these cartridges are a fine choice to write with.

It is a shame it is proprietary to Sailor pens only, but it is an excellent black ink. I'm not too fond of the converters that come with most pens, so if I want to use different color inks not supplied by Sailor, and I have, I clean out the cartridge and use an ink syringe and refill with the ink of my choice.However, since I use my pens for work and quick notetaking, I like to keep full cartridges on hand, so I keep one color ink in each pen and keep to the standard cartridge colors. This way, I can keep a spare for each color in the pen roll or my backpack.

Clear black ink, feeds very well. Can tend to bleed in Moleskines and other such paper.I notice if I've had these cartridges around for a few months that ink seems to evaporate from them at a quicker rate than with other companies' cartridges. I haven't noticed that it makes the ink any thicker or affects the pen, but whether evaporating or sublimating, up to a quarter of the ink is gone a few months out.I have a Sailor ProGear pen: 21K nib. Writes so smoothly you might hurt your wrist zipping off the page. This is the ink for it, unless you go for the more permanent (mostly waterproof) Kiwa-Guro ink.
