I knew Col. Harper
This is an excellent insight into how a P-38 fighter group operated in No. Africa, flying bomber support over Europe.I met Col. Harold Harper 17 years ago, when we moved to our retirement ranch, which is next to the ranch where Harold rented a hunting cabin. We talked many times about his service and flying the P-38. I'm a private pilot so I was very interested in his flying during WW2.Harold passed away, or 'Flew West' as we say in the EAA., in June at 95+ years.I will miss him and will cherish this book that he helped write.

A grand read read of the actual pilots of the P-38 Lightnings over Sicily, 1943
2nd Lt. Knepper was the brother I never knew. He went missing before I was born, and our family had almost no information regarding his military service and no details of his crash. The author has done tremendous and extensive research before writing this book. During the reading of it, I felt as though I had met my brother. He visited with the families of the men who flew with my brother, and visited personally with the two who are still living, giving their stories also. Enjoy!

One Star
Had high hopes for this book but found it to be uninteresting, repetitive and generally a 3rd party account.

A good read for a WWII pilot/author, Charles E. Romans
It's a story that needed to be told. As a WWII B-25 pilot I appreciated the details saved in this book. Fewer of us are left. I have published my memoir and more of us should write or have someone record our experiences before it is too late. I learned of this book as I talked to a family member on a recent Honor Flight to Washington, DC and bought a copy right away.

Incredible story.
I like the easy flow of the narrative and the historical accuracy.
