Nice shoe for walking
I do a daily morning walk and wanted something a little wider to accommodate my injured big toe.Shoes are very comfortable and fit well but the darn laces are way too long. When I tie them to keep from stepping on them, it looks like Mickey Mouse ears and I get tired of hearing the flopping when I am trying to enjoy being outside and alone. The shoes are fine and will last a long time but I gotta do something about the laces.

Update after 200 miles
UPDATE 200 milesI was just going to return these shoes. They were so disappointing, but then it started snowing and my other hiking shoes slipped a lot and I noticed these had Vibram soles so I thought I’d give them another try. I wore heavier Darn Tough full-cushion socks and that seemed to really help the fit. I’ve worn them every day for the past month through snow, freezing rain, and ice and they’ve been pretty comfortable, warm, and stable. The one thing I did notice was that the tread isn’t that aggressive so they do tend to slip a little on the snow and ice, but going up or down hill on packed or icy snow they’re really grippy and stable. Certainly not a technical shoe, but a nice bonus for winter hills.I’ve changed my recommendation to I would buy again, especially at the $80 or so price point. They’re a good value.———————————————————————————————————————————————-Needed mixed terrain hiking shoes for fall/winter. I walk 5-7 miles a day in all weather. These shoes were recommended by local REI but they didn’t have my size. This is my experience after a couple of hikes (20 miles total). Normally I’d update after 200 miles, but I don’t think I’ll be using them that much.Pros: Comfortable out of the box. Mildly aggressive tread for secure stride. Good on frozen slush, packed snow, wet pavement.Cons: Heavy. Tiring to walk in. After a few miles every step was a chore, especially on pavement or dry flat trails.Best use: Short winter walks in rain or snow. Or maybe snow blowing the driveway.Recommended: No, would not buy again. If you want a shoe that *looks* like a hiking shoe and you want to walk the dog for a few blocks in the rain/snow then you might want to consider this shoe. If you walk any farther than that, there are better options.

Perfect shoes for light hiking, and walking on rough surfaces - and they a have wide toe box.
These are among the best shoes I've had, and that covers a lot of decades of shoe wearing. The wide toe box is for me the biggest factor. I do a lot of walking in an area that has many unpaved shoulders and paths, and they're perfect for those.minuses (not enough to dock a star): On sidewalks and paved streets, the insoles seem a little thin, like I can feel the tread pattern, but that's not a big problem for me. 54" laces too long for me; if you get new ones please note that in some brands the lace lengths are not as advertised.

Truly great for hiking!
A huge improvement over the hiking shoes I'd been using previously. Reasonable price for this model as well.

Best shoes ever
I’m just purchased my 3rd pair of these MOAB 2 shoes and I love them. I have tried one other Merrill shoe but came back to the MOAB 2 for comfort. These shoes are well made, comfortable and durable.

Outstanding shoe for light hiking
After trying to save money and buying something less expensive. I learned the hard way you get what you pay for. Most of my hiking shoes that were purchased prior would only last about 30 days. Before the soul of the shoe would either detach from the shoe or crack. These shoes so far according to my Apple Watch I have put 100 miles on in trail hiking. I have walked over and tripped over rocks and branches. I have walked over rock terrain, and swampy areas. And these have performed excellently. I highly recommend you spend the money and get these.

four stars for not being sturdy
It's hard to find a walking/hiking shoe these days that is actually sturdy enough to be used this way. They all swim on my foot regardless of size. Pray you don't have to climb rocky hills. Merrell finally sells shoes that are true to size.
