KISS: Keep it simple stupid
This book is fantastic. I'm not a doctor, which it is slanted toward. I am, however, an attorney—so I was able to quickly assess how well this book was researched and whether it was accurate. I spot checked several of the claims as I read through, and they all checked out perfectly. This is the book you need to help you sleep at night if you are a high net worth individual (or on your way). Straightforward and simple advice with no agenda whatsoever. If your situation is complex, no problem, you have all the breadcrumbs you need to meet with an asset planning attorney and ask the right questions. But, for the 99.9% of folks with a net worth below $5,000,000, this is all you need. You can spend a weekend reading this book and tweaking your situation—and probably still have Sunday left to relax. It only took an hour or two to read this book because Chapter 7 (the largest in the book) covers a ton of information that isn't applicable to your personal circumstance (i.e., it covers all 50 states). With that said, Chapter 7 was my favorite part! It is absolutely fascinating to see how different each state operates with respect to asset protection. Even if you live in a great state for asset protection like Texas or Florida, you may well have parents, kids, etc. in other states and can instantly help them tweak whatever is necessary. At a minimum you can at least warn friends and family that they may not be as protected as they think. It truly is an outstanding book and well worth the very small investment. This should be required reading in medical and law school.

Must have reference.
Great read. I liked the "evidence-based" writing style with solid data/numbers backing things up. That gives the reader a sense of confidence that the author is very knowledgeable in the topics discussed.I wish there was an expanded discussion on Roth conversions beyond their use in the case studies to be able to better decide about the balance of paying the upfront high tax bill and getting the significant asset protection as well as future benefits in estate planning and tax savings.

Every Physician Should Read
WCI Guide to Asset Protection book reviewI run a Fiduciary fee only planning practice and am a physician as well. This is an outstanding book! It is a balanced review of the both easy and complex ways in which physicians can protect their assets in front of any possible lawsuit. I agree with most of the author's recommendations and cautions as well. At a minimum, it would be an excellent use of most physician's time to read the first few chapters and then the specific state section that follows.

Worth a read by any HNW professional
Dr. Dahle and WCI team does it again. He takes the complicated and nuanced topic of asset protection and gives you a plain English analysis of the topic. Like his pod and blog, the books provides straightforward and pragmatic advice on how to navigate this topic. I’m not in healthcare but think this is worth the read by any HNW family. Good way to orient yourself to the topic before talking to your lawyer.

Provides good peace of mind. Well researched.
This book does a lot to put things into perspective re: the rarity of a judgment to exceed policy limits. He goes into detail about the pros and cons of what to do for added protection. The information about limits and vulnerabilities in each state was excellent. Thanks for this!

Dahle delivers another 5 star book - definitely add this one to your collection!
By far this is the best book I've read on asset protection for physicians! Simple, straightforward, practical, and easy to read. Dr. Dahle makes this somewhat complicated topic very easy to understand. Easy to apply the principles and topics in this book to real life. Add this one to your WCI collection - you won't be disappointed! Keep up the great work WCI!

Excellent book on Asset Protection for Physicians
Great book on asset protection. Easy to understand and a fairly quick reed. Has a lot of state specific advice as well.

Underwhelmed
Dr. Dahle has built an amazing niche by “educating Doctors and other high income professionals…”. Typically, his material is top notch. Unfortunately, this one is not. It doesn’t provide any novel material - in fact, I felt that this was watered down content and filled with fluff. For example, half of the book (middle section) was state-specific information - thus mostly useless to a reader. This could become dated. Instead, a reference to a website would be more prudent (and easier to keep content current). I’m it’s place, more actionable information or deeper details could be added.
