It's okay
I got this for a toddler. The picture makes is look like the slide mechanism is sturdy. It's thinner than a 1/4 dowel, so I wouldn't trust me kid to play with it without close supervision. Also, the sound isn't very good with the slide pushed in Iie the high pitch isn't very good), but the low pitch is. My son (15 months) also had trouble not covering the whistle hole as the body shape doesn't provide good indication of appropriate moth position (in a normal whistle the body shape stops the moth from covering the hole). All in all, my kid enjoys it, and as long as we are careful it won't get broken too easy, but there is certainly room for design improvement.

Yellow knob at the end falls off!
I was happy to find a non-toxic slide whistle, for sure, but I'm not happy that the yellow knob used to pull the slide in and out fell off. It was not handled in a rough manner at all and always used with my supervision. This would be a concern if he, or another child in the house, was at a stage that he picked up small objects and put them in his mouth.

Good whistle, bad for teething kids or droolers.
So I got this for my two year old, and he loves working it, but his drool gets in there and within a few minutes the whistle won't work. This, however, is not the whistle's fault. If your little kid is a drooler, skip this toy and get a kazoo. If your kid is drier than mine, they'll probably love it.

Not impressed.
The quality of the product is not great. The slide does not move smoothly. Had to clean up the opening with a pocket knife so air would enter. But my 2 yr old grandson loves it, and he's the one who uses it.

Only really whistles in about 1/2 of the range of the slider. the rest of the time wind just passes through it. However, my kid still likes to parade around with it and have a jolly old time. So, it's "Ok".

My son loves it!
It is a lot of fun to play this for my son and teach him more about sound and music. The only disappointment is the sound isn't smooth when you get it almost closed up...it goes shrill. But other than that...perfect!

A child's delight!
This was purchased for my grandson because he loves blowing the whistle I use for training dogs. That is hard on human ears, especially when he blows it in your face. This whistle is a well-made, high quality whistle with adjustable sound and a much lower pitch than the dog training whistles. Short of it being stepped on by an adult, this little whistle should outlast his interest in it.

nice quality wood toys
Scared our grandson initially but now that he can blow and move the slid himself he seems to like it. It is noisy so you might want to bring it out when you have a lot of patience and have had enough sleep because it can be irritating when used for more than 5 minutes.
