Fast play, hugely enjoyable, just the sci fi skirmish game I was looking for
Had an old version of Deadzone 2nd edition, and although I liked the models and terrain, never really got into it. This is a much improved version however, and I've found it fun, fast and addictive. The game itself is an interesting mixture of a board game and a more open play skirmish game, that uses the mechanics of both, movement like a boardgame and LOS and combat like a skirmish game. The different forces and characters play out in a satisfying manner with enough unpredictability to make the game interesting without being frustrating, big 'shooty' models dish out plenty of damage and tough 'fighty' models dish out plenty of mayhem, and then sometimes a humble cannon fodder trooper can take out something bigger and nastier than itself with a lucky shot. The rule books are well laid out with plenty of examples and I haven't found any confusing or contradictory mechanics in the rules yet. I love the fact the board takes up so little space (24 inches by 24). Although you don't actually need it, I would recommend adding some extra terrain to what's in the box, as the more the better in this game, and it stops the most powerful shooters dominating the gameplay. Loads of fun, highly recommended.

Bloody well worth it
An absolute bargain for what you get in the box. Cant wait to start building and painting them all

Nice minis, easy to follow rules
The game is a much cleaner, much simpler game than the 40k or so alternatives ;) It's a faster to play alternative without giving up any fun. Highly recommended as an introduction to sci-fi tabletop gaming.

Very good value set
This set is good value so long as you price research and don't pay too much. The models are pretty logical to assemble and the options are great. The Marauder (Orc) faction models for the basic infantry are basically attach the arms and head you want. Which is great if you're doing lots of units (40 in this box) to have lots of 'boys' in the fight. Although you don't get lots of variety in the troops poses and looks, but you may not want that anyway for a horde of greenies. The Enforcers are more pieces to assemble but are pretty easy to build and there is the chance for making modifications to get more poses and variety in their troops. The instructions and assembly guides are there and very well received. The rule book and force list book (two separate books) are great quality and you get plenty of story and the background to the universe. The models are great and can be used for rule sets that do not have their own model lines which makes any of the large Mantic Games sets a good value choice, although there is usually less posing customisation options in their range.
