I clamped each one to the underside of open floor joists. The clamps were spaced about seven feet apart. I connected one kayak sling to each clamp and placed my ultralight (12'/19lb) canoe into the slings and raised it as far as possible. This system allows for infinite adjustment without having to drill holes into the joists. The only thing that could have made this product better for my purpose is if the hole on the side was tapped for 3/8" like the hole at the end instead of 1/4".

I love these clamps! I use them outside on my balcony for holding up lights. The only thing that I was hoping for was that the threaded hooks would fit both drilled, threaded holes. They only fit the one's on the sides. I needed to use the one's on the long section. I figured out a work around that didn't use the hooks but would've preferred using them. Otherwise, great for the job!
