It's liver!
According to my dog's actions, it smells like liver, it tastes like liver, and I love it!

My dog will dye for these!
My dog goes crazy when I offer these treats, she will take me to where I keep them and if I give her another she spits it out or will eat it and wait for the other one! Delish apparently!

Loved but came as powder
My dog just loves any and all duck forms and I tried this brand take on freeze dried duck treat and the flavour and likeable quality was there but my bag came with maybe a dozen shaped pieces and the rest was powder but I just shook it on top of his rehydrated wet food and he would eat it up. Potentially couriers fault

High quality! Amazing price! Will reorder
Can't beat this price! I bought smaller packages in 3 different flavors. I specifically wanted freeze-dried treats since usually they crumble easily, and I mix them into the dog's food, rotating flavors. I have seen some negative reviews on freeze-dried treats before because they are too crumbly, but that's what I wanted! These, however, are less crumbly then I was expecting, which is good for most purposes. They are still able to be crumbled or pulled apart and the dogs LOVE them. They weren't eating breakfast, and we would have to bring it to the office for the dogs to eat when they got hungry enough. My little dog is a picky eater and would pick at her food unless she was starving. I thought to myself, "if I ate the same thing for every single meal, and had 10x the smelling and tasting power than a human, I wouldn't be excited about eating either!" So I decided to add flavoring that alternates between meals. It has WORKED! They always are so excited to eat breakfast and my little dog scarfs up her dinner. I think it is also helping the bigger dog to get the nutrition he needs - he's overweight, so we cut his food amount back. Recommendations on weight loss food for dogs says that it should have a very low amount of fat, and very high protein - we couldn't afford a higher protein content dog food (literally $70+ for a 30 lb bag) so I think these treats help him to get that.

My cat
LOVES THESE. as other reviewers suggested the branded dog treats are a better value than the branded cat ones & seem to be the same product. Since cats are obligate carnivores while dogs are closer to omnivores it's arguable these are better cat "toppers" for the crude protein content (still higher than necessary even for cats ~64%). These are not cheap, subjective to each animals' taste/ dietary needs, & as other reviewers have pointed out freeze dried (therefore some contaminants can remain because this is 100% meaty meat). Also let's be real- we're feeding our pets duck liver. We obviously really care about them.Overall my 9 year old, healthy, shelter cat really likes these. The liver varies in size from flattened peas to large flattened cherries. They didn't arrive crumbled but i actually crumble about 1 tbsp & mix them with her kibble. Usually she's not very picky though. Haven't tried any other purebites brand "toppers" but am sold on trying others so she can have more varied TREATS. I'd give the duck liver 4 stars because it's $8/2.6 oz.Rant/PSA : Please remember even though we care for our animals a lot we aren't veterinary nutritionists & these are marketed as treats & only treats. Even cats (relatives of lions, tigers, jaguars, oh my!) don't need 64% crude protein content.
