The product itself is not string wound and it is 10 inches long. My type of filter system will not take these , it will only hold 9/7/8 in filters. Before you buy , just know these are the full 10 inches long.

Water filters for my 150 gal tank
I use these to filter the fresh water for my salt water tank when I make new batches of water for changes. They work well. I will continue to use they for a while.
