Great story
Declan is the Whiskey Prince. Never heard of one, I know, me neither. However the Whiskey Prince is like royalty where he lives in Ireland and his family is from a long generation of families owning a distillery that makes true Irish whiskey. Living like royalty means having the wealth, the attention and the pressure as a part of life, not always ideal but it's part of the package. Declan loves the family business and is primed to take over but is given an ultimatum to get married in 6 months or he won't be the heir. Apparently having a wife in his life equates to the success and experience needed to run that operation which also requires the same level of devotion. Declan isn't some jaded fellow who is sour on the idea of marriage, he actually does want to fall in love and settle down. His issue is dealing with the public in order to meet people. He's not an attention seeker or an extrovert, he's more reserved and he doesn't care for public scrutiny, it actually makes him nervous and self-conscious. He's wary of people's ulterior motives for getting to know him since he and his family have been burned in the past. Amberlyn is in Ireland living out her life now that she has no parents in the states, and she is making sure she lives it to the fullest. She isn't reckless or sloppy, she just hasn't had much social experience in the way of friendships or relationships and now is her chance. She's not shy or withdrawn either, but rather carefree, honest, courageous and inspirational. I loved how non-cliche Declan and Amberlyn were and yet it didn't make me like them less. Declan's nervousness and the way he always had to mentally prep himself for social appearances was actually endearing and the real Declan around Amberlyn was still swoon worthy, Irish accent included. He definitely had a possessive streak but he wasn't overbearing. Sweet romances can get really overly sappy quickly but that's not how I felt about this story. They balanced each other well and Declan treated Amberlyn with so much respect, like a true lady. They both have to figure out if they have a future together and there's some obstacles along the way that make it abundantly clear to them just how well they would do with each other versus without each other. I'm glad there will potentially be more of these characters in the future, it doesn't seem like their story is complete yet.

Whiskey Prince is my first read by Toni Aleo. I’ve read some amazing things about her books, so I was excited to read a book by her. This book won’t be my last. It was sweet, emotional and beautiful.Amberlyn just lost her mother after losing her father a few years ago. She moves to Ireland and she hopes for a new beginning. She will live with her aunt and she’ll work in her aunt’s pub with her niece. One day, Amberlyn meets Declan. Declan’s family is famous at the town. Declan has been hiding at his home, because he hates the stares and gossip. He immediately likes Amberlyn and she is worth it leaving his home. He goes to the pub every day, just to be with her.Declan is very passionate about whiskey. He dreams about owning the family company and finally produce the whiskeys he has invented. There is only one thing he needs to do to make that happen and Amberlyn can help him with that. He loves the way Amberlyn is with him. She’s different.Amberlyn gave up a lot to take care of her mother, but she didn’t mind it because she loved her very much. She was her everything and she’s devastated that she has no one anymore. Amberlyn never had a relationship and she didn’t have any friends. I’m so happy that she has friends now and that she found Declan. Amberlyn is sweet, nice, insecure and caring.I adored Amberlyn and Declan, and I adored them together. Amberlyn and Declan fall hard and fast for each other, but they don’t get together immediately. They always have a great time together. They are perfect for each other. They share some hot kisses, but they didn’t do anything more in this book.Whiskey Prince is the first part of Amberlyn and Declan’s love story, but it does end with a HFN. It ends beautifully, but not everything is completely solved. I think I’ll read Becoming the Whiskey Princess one day, but probably not soon.

Take a chance, take a risk and see where it will lead you
I'm so used to hockey romance with Toni Aleo and for some reason I kept putting this one aside. I'm glad I finally dove it. I really enjoyed Amberlyn and Declan's story. I REALLY loved the setting in Ireland as it is one of my favorite places. Amberlyn's life hasn't been easy but her mom imparted some wise words to her - top of the list...take a risk. She didn't know what path that risk would take but she was open to any an all chances to take that risk. Some worked out better than others. Meeting Declan was never on her radar. And Declan-well he has his own issues to deal with and whether or not Amberlyn is the path to dealing with those issues remains to be seen. I'm looking forward to book 2 when I get a moment to find out where everything will lead for these two.

So very bad.
Wow. Could this author’s perception of an Irish person and how they speak be any more stereotypical and cliche?I got about 25% into the story and just couldn’t finish, which is rare for me.Bloody awful.

Not for Me.
This is definitely aimed at the younger readers.....and I am most certainly not in that category. So not for me.

Not for me
Couldn't get into this story at all. It's probably more for the younger reader. I thought it was all a bit bland.
