They changed the formula
My cat has only eaten this for years after getting extremely ill at ten weeks from an allergy to anything with chicken in it. It seems, no matter the cat food flavor, all other cat foods have chicken in it. So she didn't get her kitten food as they didn't have any non chicken kitten food options at that point. She won't eat the soft food version because of the pea flavor but with the hard food, it seems it's more easy to hide that pea flavor. Her very favorite flavor of this food has (until my recent purchases) been the turkey. Now it looks smaller and darker and she won't eat it. I have purchased multiple bags because we are in need of the chicken free food and it's became so hard to buy since covid. So now we have this hurdle to somehow navigate. I suspect it's a way to increase profit margins by reducing the amount of real meat protein in it and increase the peas in it. Anything made with pea protein tastes terrible. I'm sure my cat thinks the same way since she is an obligate carnivore. She also eats the rabbit and the salmon options. The rabbit does make you cat's stool very dark and stinky but that is just what it does. My cat has eaten these mixed with the turkey for years. She does still like the rabbit and it appears to (for the time being at least) be the same formula. The dark stool does not mean you cat is sick like some reviewers seemed to think. If you eat something this dark your stool also changes in color. Now, anyone who doesn't pay attention to if their cat is still eating or not can't hardly blame a cat's death on cat food. Cats are finicky and sensitive and you always have to know how much your cat is or is not eating no matter what you feed them.

BEWARE- formula has changed with bag redesign.
What's most disappointing is the lack of communication of the formulation change from the manufacturer- even though I receive their emails. Especially for pets medically in need of a special diet. With a little advance notice we could have prepared to transition properly.None of my three cats will eat this new formula and they loved the old. Stomach troubles for all as well.
