Great card if you have the "Know How"
My OS is Windows 8.1 64. I need to use this card to access a shared drive on my PC with other computers on my network. My shared drives are 4Tb each; both plugged into a docking station. During my initial install of the card, Windows did not install the correct drivers for the chip-set on the card. I had to search for the correct drivers: ASMedia xHCI Host Controller Driver 1.16.45.1. Once I downloaded the drivers, it was still tricky to get them installed as they are not "signed" through Microsoft. Therefore, you have to override the default and allow the driver to be installed. I had to use a manual install process which was described in a ReadMe.txt file included with the drivers. Then, you MUST make sure your device, in my case, the docking station was USB 3.1 Gen 2 compatible. Finally, you have to make sure that all of the cables and hubs between your device and the card are also USB 3.2 Gen 2. If you are successful in accomplishing all of the above, you will be satisfied with your new card. For me, it represented quite a few upgrades and purchases. With all of that said, you should be happy with your purchase because the speed is a big reward. This whole process in not for those who are not dedicated to achieving the end result of 10 Gb/sec. It takes time patience and understanding of the technologies involved. It is unfortunate that the drivers are not "signed" through Microsoft. It is also unfortunate that High Point does not ship the drivers with the card; they should along with the appropriate instructions for the install as well as a detailed explanation on the proper selection of peripherals and cabling. I still think that the card is the best out there at this time. I have purchased two of these cards. Both arrived from Amazon later than promised.

Worked great for PCI Passthrough
I can attest that this card is compatible with VFIO for PCI passthrough. I used this on Unraid 6.8.3 with the VFIO-PCI CFG plugin (built-in as of 6.9 I believe) to split the 4 controllers out for multiple VMs, allowing me to keep PCIe slots available for other purposes.

Though pricey, it works as advertised.
On my 2012 Mac Pro, eSATA works faster than different eSATA card I had on my Mac Pro 2008.While eSATA works on all of my Mac OS partitions, USB 3 deos not work on my OS 10.6.8. I wasn't able to find driver for the OS.
