I had the hemline brought up just below my knees as the event I was attending was not an "After five". The dress is a Keeper.

White is too sheer for me. Not sure if the darker colors are better.

I bought this dress to use for my Bride of Frankenstein costume. The style worked well and I liked the look of the dress with the slit and the sleeves. However, as many other commenters have noted, the dress isn't the best for regular wear. I ordered a large because I didn't want it to be overly tight and I typically wear an 8-10 dress size. It fit well and was flattering overall, but I guess because I'm smaller chested (B cup) there was a weird flap under the armholes. It wasn't very noticeable but annoying nonetheless. Also, I appreciated the second layer so the dress wasn't sheer, but it showed slightly through the slit. Lastly, the sheer sleeve slightly ripped along the armhole only after a few hours of normal wear. Overall, the dress worked for my costume and because of the steep price I'll try to reuse it for future costumes, but I have no plans to wear it for normal occasions.
