IRON FIST EPIC COLLECTION: THE FURY OF IRON FIST [NEW PRINTING 2] (Iron Fist Epic Collection, 1)

One of the best Epic Collection books out there
Definitely one of the best "Epic Collection" books I own. The saga if Iron Fist is pretty much complete here, missing only the first "Marvel Team-Up" where he meets Spider-Man, but it includes his second appearance in the series since that is where the Steel Serpent saga finally ends. From his first appearances in Marvel Premiere to the complete run of his own series, the stories here are great and the artwork is amazing. John Byrne was one of my favorite Marvel artists, and his work on Iron Fist shows you why. The stories do get a little familiar as they wear on (martial arts killer/assassin seems unbeatable, Danny summons his iron fist and the guy goes down in one blow) but there is actual growth in the characters, which is something you miss in a lot of modern books. You even get the first appearance of future X-Men baddie Sabertooth.I have a lot of the "Epic Collection" books, but I have to say this one is one of the best. The stories it collects are perfect for any first-time reader of the character, and there isn't that awkward "What are we doing here?" stumbles you read in a lot of books that are just starting out. This is a very even collection of stories that completes the early Iron Fist saga.

All the Early Iron Fist in One Place
I was looking on Amazon for an affordable collection of comics to read when I stumbled upon this Epic Collection of Iron Fist's earliest adventures. While I had read some current Iron Fist in the mid-2000s, and was familiar with the origin story, I had never read earlier stories. Well I was not disappointed. Not only does this book cram in quite a few stories, all in great quality with vivid coloring and a few extras thrown in for fun, the stories are quite enjoyable and show Iron Fist's evolution as he gets acclimated to NYC and first meets longtime allies like Misty Knight and Colleen Wing. This collects the whole first run of the initial Iron Fist series and includes everything you need before picking up the Power Man & Iron Fist Epic Collection: Heroes for Hire. Necessary buy for collectors or Iron Fist fans, but also a good read for those less familiar with the character.

Die Hard Iron Fist fans should get this!
It's really great to get this volume is high quality paper and with color!! And crammed with epic stories!! I love Iron Fist, so this is a MUST HAVE!!Minor nitpick, I know I bought mine in "Like New" condition so a teeny scuff here and there is implied, but one of the pages has a small torn corner so I had to tear the piece off so it wouldn't dangle. Frankly Amazon, for the amount of money I paid for this, that's NOT COOL! Hence the four stars.

Early Byrne-Claremont Work
Liked seeing this creative team in the early days. The X-Men guest star was like a lost issue! Recommended for hardcore Byrne/Claremont fans.

Great collection of stories from what in my opinion was ...
Great collection of stories from what in my opinion was one of the most interesting eras in comic history. I'm an old man now but Iron Fist was one of my favorite titles when I was younger. It's topics and story lines were nearly endless, taking place in mystical K'un-L'un or the mean streets of NYC (or anywhere in between). Obviously, cashing in on the kung fu craze of the mid seventies, the books still managed to get their point across without being 100% hokey. This book is a great value to a new reader or a collector who would prefer to keep his issues in their mylar bags

One of the best written and illustrated comic during the 1970's.
This title introduced Chris Claremont and John Byrne before their X-men run/fame.

The Fury of Iron Fist
Excellent storytelling and art. A fine representation of the evolution of Daniel Rand. And it doesn't hurt that at least half the stories are written by Chris Claremont and drawn by John Byrne. The dynamic duo responsible for breathing new life into the Uncanny X-Men.

Super fun kung-fu comics
There are a lot of great talents here including Tony Isabella and Arvell Jones, and eventually a long run of Chris Claremont and John Byrne. They produced some of the greatest X-Men comics together, and this is another fine group of stories and art from them to enjoy. This volume took a long time to download, but it eventually finished and every page was there.

Like a thing unto IRON!!
Iron Fist. Danny Rand. Misty Knight. Colleen Wing. John Byrne. Chris Claremont. When they say Epic Collection they meant it. I love Iron Fist. Been a fan of his for years and waiting for a collection of his solo stuff and the wait paid off. The earlier Marvel Premiere stuff is good for artwork. Stories are so-so yet you can see the foundation that was being built for him as a character and his origin story. Once Chris Claremont (my fav writer) takes over the story then we really start to see him fleshing out the character along with his partners Misty and Colleen. They all start to come alive before our eyes. Chris is so great at giving characters live and soul on the page. Now when you add a great writer with an amazing artist like John Byrne (one of my top fav artists) then you've got gold in them books! Blows my mind that this was the stuff that leads up to those two taking over the X-Men book and making it a classic series. In one of the Iron Fist books he introduces Jean and Scott in a cameo. Amazing to see that early stuff. It's only in paperback and I would have liked to seen it in hardcover. Aside from this the colors are crisp and vibrant inside. If you've been wondering about picking this book up. Just do it. It's worth the money.

Iron Fist the original 70s collection!
I had always been fascinated with the martial arts superhero Iron Fist...with his exotic origin story of a mystical city in the Himalayas... discovered Iron Fist via the Power Man & Iron Fist comic which I collected in the early 80s as a kid. I had actually never read though this original 70s run of Iron Fist comics and I enjoyed the whole storyline. Much of the storylines continue in the next Epic collection where the Heroes for Hire storyline begins with Power Man. Some years back out of curiosity I picked up Immortal Iron Fist vol 1 - a new graphic novel type story...it seemed dark and high on graphic violence and low on story and character. I can't even remember much of the plot now - whereas I can remember comics I read decades ago in my childhood. Somehow I feel comics of the 1960s-1970s and 1980s are (with very few exceptions) much superior to the new stuff. Or maybe that's just age! Anyhow...a great way for comics fans (and martial arts/70s comics fans) to read the orginal run of Iron Fist, the Living Weapon! Recommended.
