96 Pack Rok Hardware 14 Gauge Table Top Fasteners with Screws, Steel Z Clip Tabletop Connectors, ROKSTBFAST

I have probably ordered 3 or 4 of these 96 packs now! Super strong, and much cheaper than Rockler version. If you build anything with a solid wood top over ~2 feet or wider: tables, islands, etc. you absolutely need to invest in a method like this to allow for seasonal expansion. I cut a 3/8 groove in the apron to accept the fastener.(We all know wood floors buckle from humidity changes, tabletops are no different. I've seen dozens that started splitting because all these "DIYers" don't know what they're doing and pocket screw the base to the top.) Anyway, buy these!

Wait to receive them and figure out what the actual offset needs to be. The top and bottom are not quite parallel, and an offset of exactly 3/8 creates a loose fit. The actual offset needs to be at least 7/16 in order to provide a tight fit.

I use these to fasten table top to frame, and it works just great. I cut the slots in the frame with my biscuit joiner, and this method works fine for me. I allow roughly 1/16" lower for my slots, that way the top will pull down to the frame for a tighter fit. This method for table top attachment goes really fast, and accurate, that is if you make sure the slots are cut right. I tested for slot positioning by attaching two boards together with a couple of these fasteners, and measued how far down the slot is, to make sure my slots were cut in the proper place. I don't use the screws that come with the fasteners, as they are too short. I received these fasteners in time promised.

I use these frequently for any table or cabinet that has a solid wood surface. I used these on the dining table i built and they work great at holding the table to the base. They are a great price compared to some other stores I will buy again. With Amazon as shipping you can have in a few days for a project.

Excellent value. I use these all the time on the tables I build. Either rip a 1/8" kerf along your aprons about 3/8" down from where it will attach to the table or use a biscuit joiner set to 3/8". I never use the screws provided so just toss them out and buy some quality screws like kreg or something else.

Arrived quickly and just what I needed for my project. I have purchase these several times and will continue to do so as I need them. These are the only way to attach a wooden top to a table or cabinet to allow for seasonal wood movement.

Money well spent! I have used these on 2 tables and on a kitchen island. Allows the table tops to expand and move yet stay firmly in place. I have used them with the screws provided with and without pilot holes in walnut, persimmon, and oak, with success. I will be buying this item again.
