Adventuresome!
Fantastic reading. My mouth watered at all the luxurious first class meals and all the alcoholic drinks (many of which I've never heard of) being served. I loved her descriptions of the cities they flew to and the sights she saw, whether shopping, eating or sunrises! I just loved her spirit; I wasn't like that when I was 21, but then, it wasn't the mid 60's either. I think it's just wonderful that she still kept in touch with her Class of 1964.I wonder what Mrs. Robson would think of today's flight attendants and the whole experience of flying. Somehow I don't think she'd be impressed, especially in post-COVID times.Would highly recommend this!

I wanted to be a stewardess when I was growing up.
It is amazing to read the history of the Pan Am Stewardess program.

Pan Am Golden Years
I enjoyed reading this memoir of a Pan Am stewardess, as I also was one. This woman either has a photographic memory or she kept detailed journals, and her memoir is a cheerful walk down memory lane.

This book made me yearn for a time long past, a time when dreams really could come true!
I really had a hard time putting this book down. With one exciting adventure after another, there was great insight into life as a stewardess, all told with a very human approach, making The Girls in Blue so real, as if you knew each girl intimately. I could hardly wait to hear who went where on the next layover and of course food preparation in the galley keep me salivating and running to the frig only to be disappointed nothing was quite as elegant waiting for me. Most fascinating was what was right and acceptable then as opposed to now. Ideas on sunbathing being a great example and of course the almost blind faith people seemed to have in each other. Today most people would not think of going out to dinner or jumping in a car with a total stranger (yet many do with often disastrous results). What a difference! It seems we are not necessarily progressing in the right direction. Hurrah for these girls reaching for their dreams and many achieving them. A delightful read that I would highly recommend.

You're going to love this book!
As a former Pan Am stewardess (and flight attendant) from 1965 to 1986, I'm thrilled that this book is so well written and contains so many details about those wonderful years that we were so lucky to experience. When I started flying for Pan Am, I felt that more things happened to me every month than had ever happened to me in my prior 22 years! This book captures the feeling of excitement and adventure that is so difficult to explain to anyone who didn't experience it. Whatever was happening in the world outside of the U.S., Pan Am was usually there. And if I didn't personally experience it, then chances are that someone I knew did. Our true Pan Am stories probably sound like exaggerations, because they run the gamut from exciting, hilarious, tragic, romantic, scary, and poignant. It was by no means always glamorous, but for me, even the hard times were always interesting. Congratulations, Lesley. You make us proud!

Luv reading about aviation and flight attendants & crew members.
An interesting tale about a young woman's adventures as a Pan Am flight attendant, who she meets, her interviews, and the different history making events that occur during her tenure as a flight attendant. A bit long in some chapters, but very good reading never-the-less.Great for anyone who's worked in the airline industry and just enjoys reading about commercial airlines and aviation...

Her imagery is excellent, effectively immersing the reader in the sights
Because Lesley's time with Pan Am immediately preceded my own, I found her stories both relevant and familiar. The amount of detail she used--names, places and events--leads me to believe she kept a journal of her experiences, from which she drew to write her book. Her imagery is excellent, effectively immersing the reader in the sights, smells and emotions of her experiences. I recommend this book for anyone who would like a close-up view of what it was like to be one of the "Girls in Blue" in the 1960's.

A time machine
A great story of a bygone era told well. The author writes with the perspective of time on her experiences as a stewardess for PanAm. This story is like stepping into a time machine to read how people lived and what the world was like in the early 1960s. I highly recommend this book for students of the airline industry and that time period.

Hugely entertaining account of a Pan Am stewardess during the golden era
This is the 3rd book I’ve read which was written by a former Pan Am stewardess and was every bit as enjoyable as the others. If you wanted to be a stewardess/steward (60’s name for flight attendant) in any era, this is the one you would choose and, particularly with Pan Am in the 1960s. Cabin crew during this period served during a golden age of transcontinental travel when the volume of travellers was low enough that they could offer a much higher quality of service and the pressures on the crew were lower in many ways.Pan Am had set the standard for international air travel and created a unique culture that comes across clearly in the accounts of all the staff who have documented their experiences in being part of the Pan Am family. This excellent book adds to that record.Lesley Peters Robson’s words paint a wonderful image of her experiences, the places she traveled and people she met, particularly her fellow Pan Am stewardesses.Although the demands of air crew were great back then, including the very long hours which wouldn’t be allowed today, she gratefully acknowledges the fantastic life and unique experiences that she would never have had if she hadn’t signed up to be a Pan Am stewardess.I’m glad she captured her experiences in this entertaining book as it was a unique period in the history of air travel which, alas, will never return but at least the readers can enjoy it vicariously through her excellent writing.I’m really sad to have reached the end of her book but glad for her that she had such a wonderful, if short, career with Pan Am.I’ll raise a glass for Lesley and the Pan Am Stewardess Class 12 of 1964!
