The Southern Lawyer (The Southern Lawyer Series Book 1)

A good start, I was very absorbed and focused. Sometimes my attention span gets the best of me but I was able to follow this book with interest. The storyline was very interesting and impressive. The characters were relatable and for the most part likable. I’m really hoping that Joe and Wendy get closure on Luca death. They deserve to know what happened to him. I love how they reminisced his memories but it would be good for them to find peace in their hearts and peace in his death.

This is the first book I have read by this author. It is an easy read and keepsyou wanting to turn the page. I’m looking forward to #2 in the series.

Joe Hennessy, a lawyer who gave up law after his son's death, gets lured back to practicing law by financial pressures. He takes on a couple of tough cases-one, defending a notorious & slippery criminal who offers enough money to save Hennessey's vineyard (his second profession). Despite great misgivings taking this case, Joe believes the man was set up. The second big case is to defend a young white woman who's accused of 1st degree murder of her black ex-boyfriend who has a criminal background. What interesting plot lines that are woven together in unexpected ways! The author draws you in quickly with great story lines, good character developments & plot twists. I'm happy to find a new series that promises more of the same. On to Book 2....
