Rapid Response Trauma Treatment Access
I appreciate that these trauma shears have built-in carabiner clip on the handles that make a very convenient aid for rapid deployment/hanging. The specially designed and blunted end helps ensure that you won’t gouge into patient’s skin when cutting away clothing – especially in high-stress situations. Serrated cutting edges will slice through the toughest of fabrics. I also like the O2 tank valve shut off feature in the blade – it can be handy in routine health-care environments. U.S. Quarter Dollar shown for sizing comparison.I bought this double set of shears so that I can add shears to some small individual blow-out medical trauma/tourniquet kits I have staged in vehicle carried bug-out bags. When seconds may make all the difference in saving someone’s life (even your own), you don’t want to be fumbling around with poorly designed gear and supplies. I believe these shears are both well-designed and of high-quality material/construction. I highly recommend them as a worthy addition to your own medical kits. Thanks for indicating if you’ve found my photos and comments helpful!

Sharp, Serrated Blade Like the Doctors Office Uses
Over the next several weeks we will be changing my post op wound at home between doctor visits. These are just what was needed to cut gauge and bandages. I got the 7.5" for easier maneuverability. They are constructed from surgical grade stainless. Packaging says the serrated blade is coated with fluoride. The plastic handles appear durable. The offset blade makes for easier handling and avoids accidents. I like that the set comes with 2 scissors.

Oh, so much potential
I work in EMS, and go through a lot of shears. I rarely wear them out, but use them a few times, and they get thrown off to the side on a call, and then don't get picked up. Or they get contaminated with body fluids, and it is nice that they do not cost too much to replace when needed. Price in these is very fair, especially compared to most medical supplies. And I think these will work well. I cut the plastic packaging these came in, no problem, clothing will be no problem. And these have two great modifications. The clip on one handle. I mentioned leaving them on a call by accident, with a clip, I can take half a second and clip them onto my belt loop or even radio strap or stethoscope. And it has an oxygen wrench opening in one blade. It is bad to go to someone who needs oxygen, and then have to dig through the bag trying to find the O2 wrench, or have to send someone back out to the truck to get one. There should be one in your O2 bag, but sometimes it is missed. So why only 3 stars? Two pretty big issues. The upper cutting edge is shorter than the lower. Just maybe 1/8th inch, not much but enough for it to have a sharp edge exposed. When trying to grab them, if grabbed the wrong way could cut through your glove, or even cut your hand. When time is important, the last thing I want to do is worry about how I am grabbing my shears, or replacing a glove if it gets cut or ripped. And second is that the safety piece at the end of the blade. This is smaller than many brands, not a problem, but also not bent very much. Maybe gives you a 45 degree angle, rather than bent to a 90 degree angle as often found on medical shears. These would still be great for use around the house. We keep a set in our kitchen to cut open food packaging, and are great for unpacking those plastic clam shell things that are often found in packaging today and can be quite dangerous due to sharp edges. They also work great for cutting flowers, or cutting the ends off of flowers that you have purchased. They are sharp and will cut most things, but due to the unequal cutting edges, and lack of enough of a bend on the safety end, both limit their use in the EMS field. Great for home use, not great for medial use.

Satisfactory.
These are decent shears, but make no mistake, they will not be replacing ones you might own that are double or triple the price. The sharpness and cutting are satisfactory; fairly middle of the road performance. The clip for me was the big selling point as I didn't have any in that style. It's nice to easily be able to clip them away, so just another storage and carry option. Not a bad choice for at home or as back up on duty!
