Reminded me of The Punisher
I really enjoyed this book. The description was interesting right from the start. The cover art made it look like a really professional book (you never know the quality sometimes with ebooks now that it's so easy for people to self-publish.) I liked, too, that it was the first book in a series, so I knew I could pick it up without having to know any other details. It was interesting right from the start. Very quickly, you get into some action. And just as quickly, it gets into the main plot of the book. Vigilantes with some extensive expertise helping those in need. It's a great spot on which to spark a series. And, it's kind of cool that it's believable. It's in the present day, in a big, real city. Unlike Batman or some other vigilante hero story, these events, seemingly, could occur and the author uses real life information to enhance the story. It was also clever to make Jones's motivation that of wanting to protect those whom the NSA overlooked while in search of national security threats. It offered a very believable and relatable train of thought which helps you root for the good guys even more and whether you agree with Jones or Recker on exactly what amount of force is necessary for them to carry out their rescue missions. The only thing that was kind of a disappointment was that you learn what Recker's overall goal is after the whole event in London. So, you keep expecting there to be more going on with that storyline. However, this is the first book in the series, so I would expect that since this book did not conclude with Recker finding Agent 17, the series as a whole would probably lead towards that as the ultimate end. It's a very effective and compelling way to begin a series, and it makes you want to continue on because there is at least that one loose end you would like to see tied up.The writing is great overall. The author really knows what he's talking about, especially in regards to the weaponry and Philadelphia. It makes the story very believable and easy to follow along with. The writing is also very natural and, actually, quite funny at times. Recker's character has a pretty good sense of humor. It's especially entertaining when he goes back and forth with Mia. (That's anotheer loose end that would keep you reading further into the series.)This a great read if you enjoy the genre. Reminded me quite a bit of The Punisher. It was entertaining and compelling.

When trouble comes, the Professor and the Silencer combine to head it off.
Intense action and good characters as a computer expert and a trained “retired” CIA operative work together to stop all kinds of crime before it happens. Routine information gathered by the alphabet agencies frequently contains data and tips on pending crimes that are not related to national security and as such are frequently ignored. These carefully hacked clues form the basis for anticipating and preventing crime in this action packed series. Worth the time.

Standard plot with a twist
It's the standard plot of a hero killer who comes over to the good side. If's pretty standard thriller action. However, there only two people fighting crime and terrorusm rather than a secret organization that is the usual plot,. Naturally one if them is a computer wizard who can break into anything anytime. Sure! The hero has the usual fantastic skills. Somehow the hero can pick locks in seconds. No details on how this is possible. Actually it's hard to pick locks. I'm thinking the author hasn't a clue. The author has chosen the Hollywood description of weapons, it would be better if he would do some research,. Authenticity is a good thing. The book is OK but it's clear the author is intellectually lazy,. Major thriller writers have nothing to fear,. I don't know if I should recommend this book but it moves right along with a lot of action and it's easy to read so maybe some would enjoy it. Wgsfvthe heckman read it and see what you think,

The Silencer Saves The Day!
The Silencer by Mike Ryan is an excellent story that follows the life of the main character, John Smith. Smith is a former CIA operative, who longs to leave the organization in order to be with the love of his life. The decision to leave makes him a prime target for elimination and a hit is put out on his life. Wounded and on the run, Smith takes on the alias of Mike Recker. On the run and trying to heal from his injuries, Recker is approached by Mr. Jones, a former NSA operative, to work for his private organization in order to play the hero to save everyday citizens who are in trouble. Ryan does a superb job of grabbing the reader’s attention and keeping you enthralled with quick paced action and well written details that sends you on a page turning frenzy in order to see what is going to happen next! I was holding my breath each and every time Recker was sent out on a “job” from Mr. Jones. Would he get there in time and save the day? Of course, like every one of my childhood superheroes (Superman, Spiderman, and Batman), Recker manages to always get his man! I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys crime thrillers. This book fulfills all your expectations for heroes and highlights that good can triumph over evil. Recker truly “silenced” the criminals in his quest for doing good! I give The Silencer by Mike Ryan 5 out of 5 stars!

The famous man in the trench coat
It's a great read and a different type of book instead of the same shoot em up style that's so prevalent. Mike Ryan has a good story telling technique, but personally I'd like more details in the book to get a better visual image to really feel what's happening inside the story. The wording is kind of short making the story move a tad faster than I think it should. But I honestly love the silencer series(already have the next book pre ordered)and Mike Ryan's other books! P.S Mike Ryan of your read this and want some ideas I'm happy to help.

Just about plausible
As an avid reader of this genre I found this first book in the series just about plausible and an entertaining read. Our hero has the confidence that one would expect to carry out his tasks but could do with a change of clothing to stay below the radar. The geeky pal is suitably non violent but his heart is in the right place. Good variety of cases for our righteous duo. Plot wise it reminded me of Callan who turned into the Equalizer. There is good potential for a sequel which i shall look out for.
