Q: does it stop the key from coming out? Annoying how my key ejects in the pocket.

Yes, it does. That was one of my main concerns when I looked into a Fob case. The button is no recessed and it takes effort to hit it. Hasn't come out in my pocket since I have put it on the Fob.

Q: How much is the range of the fob dropped by wrapping it in a metal cage?

This is an open type key case. I think there is no range dropping of key fob when you install this. Works almost same distance based on my experience.
