No page numbers
Beautiful cover art. There are no page numbers which bothered me a bit at first, but I learned to like how simple the book was.

Font too small
The cover it’s very pretty even tho it’s not the same as the picture, the font it’s too small and none of the pages are number ( I don’t know if that was a mistake or it was intended like that ). I will returned I can’t read like that.

Small print no annotations
I really loved the cover I chose. The paperback is a good size, like most paperbacks, but the font is still extremely small. I’m not sure why I can’t find a normal size font for this book. It’s my favorite book, so I’ll keep searching and don’t mind extra copies. This version does not contain any annotations. I have read them I another copy I own and pretty much know what Joseph says.

No page numbers
Love or hate the story, the paper copy does not have page numbers or chapter headings. Margins are also small but it's really that you don't know where you are.

might not be ideal for first time readers, but WH fans may like this edition's "extras"
COMMENTS ABOUT THE STORY/NOVEL FOR FIRST TIME READERS:I don't know what really needs to be said about Emily Bronte's 1847 novel, the brilliantly plotted, superbly structured, & extremely engrossing WUTHERING HEIGHTS, 'cept maybe, "if you haven't read it, you really ought to becuz you're in for an amazing treat". Quite frankly, I'm jealous of the "uninitiated" who are about to embark on such a fantastic "journey", given the great road that lies ahead. For the sake of prospective first time readers who need a bit more info to tempt them into taking the plunge, I'll just say that THIS is the book that made famous the idea of rambling about on a moor with someone whom you fancied. Need more? Well, the protagonist is named Heathcliff (you've probably heard that named tossed about somewhere) and it is he who dominates both halves of this two generational story. Still not enuf? Okay; while it has been viewed by many as a great love story, WH is actually - in the words of Bronte biographer Lucasta Miller - "more Romantic (as in the literary style) than romantic". Furthermore, while new readers may have already experienced - perhaps, in reading other novels and certainly in watching tv shows and movies - the particular "twists" on the traditional method of narration that Bronte employs, it must be noted that SHE was the FIRST great writer to use them and, all these decades later, WUTHERING is still unsurpassed in their use. That's about all I dare say so as not to spoil it for new readers in regard to the plot, etc.COMMENTS ABOUT THIS EVERYMAN EDITION OF WH:For first time readers, it is important to note that this edition is NOT annotated (at least my copy isn't) , which is of great relevance in the case of WH becuz there is a certain character in the story that speaks a Yorkshire dialect that is difficult for most non-Brit readers to fully comprehend. To get the "full flavour" of the dialogue, new readers might want to consider getting a diff edition. Then again, it may be worth it to put in a bit of effort to figure out that character's utterances oneself becuz what this edition really has going for it is the inclusion of 60 of Bronte's published poems, many of which, like the novel, are powerful and for which this Everyman edition provides indices for both their "proper" titles and first lines. According to literary critic and author Margaret Drabble, Bronte's poems "may reveal Emily, in flashes, as a mystic: they do not reveal her as a (great) novelist"; read them and decide for yourself.*** SPOILER ALERT: Some comments below may give away info that some first time readers may not want to know "going in" ***Speaking of Drabble, the intro that she has contributed to this edition seems to be geared more toward first time readers than WUTHERING "fans", as it more or less re-hashes many well known takes of various aspects of the novel (e.g. as noted above, the comparison of the writing ability of the Emily who wrote the Gondal-related poems on one hand and WH on the other; judgements as to the purpose, rendering, "reliability", & "interference" of narrators Nelly Dean and Mr. Lockwood; the types of "horror" novels and literary magazines that Emily and her readers might have read before WH had even been published and other possible sources for the plot, etc; whether the story of the second generation of Earnshaws and Lintons has been successfully "welded" to the story of the first generation; judgements as to the violence, morbidity, and [foul] language found in the novel; etc). Unfortunately and unusually (I have read and enjoyed a few intros that she has contributed to other novels), Drabble's own observations about WH are rather pedestrian.*** SPOILER ALERT FINIS ***Nonetheless, fans of the novel might enjoy her summary of WH criticism and newcomers might want to know Bronte's and the story's background, 'tho I strongly suggest that the latter read the intro AFTER finishing the story. One last note: many Amazon Marketplace sellers DO NOT sell the exact edition of the book described on Amazon webpages, so contact a seller by e-mail prior to making an order to confirm that you will receive the edition you desire.Enjoy

Dementsprechend absolute Kaufempfehlung.
