An essential for every home
I am a firm believer in home fire safety, this brand is fitted for vulnerable people by my local fire service which is why I chose it, I have had these before they are so simple to fit and last for ages, I like the one with the light as it helps you get your bearings in thick black smoke. I would recommend, they are an excellent price, offer great peace of mind are arrive very quickly.

Recommended by a Fire Officer
These were recommended to us as being the best available for the price by both an electrician and a fire officer. The installation instructions were easy to understand and it was straight forward to put it up. The smoke alarm looks robust but discrete, it does not stand out too much. The test button is easy to use and the volume of the alarm will ensure that everyone wakes up.

Reliable protection
I know not to install a smoke detector in my attic due to high risk of false alarms, so opted for the recommended heat detector. It seems this detects the rate of temperature rise rather than just a high temperature. An in-built ten-year life battery prevents annoying low-battery 'chirping' at 2am It has a low volume test button but press the button twice for an ear-splitting full volume test. There is a hush button for an 8 hour pause, considering smoke will not set this off - it is not to shut the sounder off when the fry up has gotten out of control, it is to hush the warning chirp when the battery finally dies In-built and non-replaceable batteries as advertised, even if the batteries only last 6 or 7 years it is still cheaper than an annual replacement of quality 9v batteries UPDATE: when you mount the base there are two holes. It is very tempting to just use the one in the centre and this does work. However, this creates a problem if you need to ever take the unit down - as you twist it, without that second screw, the base just spins
