Sun Brella keeps making them better and better
We tried and full zippered tent with a sun tarp over-head for a Summer Florida trip with family of all ages. Took forever to set it all up. It didn't keep the Black Flies out, and was a lot to pull through the sand in the heat. UGH. I had a Sun-Brella years ago that I had LOVED but had stolen but didn't think would help on this trip. So wrong. By the fourth day I ordered that latest and greatest which made it to us the last 2 days.Light and easy to carry, takes literally a second to set up, and can be reconfigured into a 3-sided tent, just an over-head umbrella, or my new favorite, tilted just so - so it's three-sided sun protection but off the ground so the wind flows above AND below. Love the new zippered "windows" and sand pockets your can fill for super windy days. Will NEVER go without again!!

Great Umbrella for Protection from the Elements
I’m surprised to see so many reviews of people not having luck with their umbrella. I’ve used this umbrella for two years now and just bought two more for family members of white they appear to be the same quality.I’ve used this on beaches on the east coast and even in a windy day where it was 15-20mph winds with some sand blowing and it withstood the winds perfectly fine. As long as you anchor the umbrella and have it positioned where the wind can’t get under the front of it, it should withstand winds. Sometimes it even helps if you open the two windows to help the air flow right through it.From someone who burns easily, this umbrella has been great at protecting from the strong summer rays, has protected from wind and from sand blowing around. It can get a little warm sitting under it since you don’t get as much air flow as a normal umbrella, but I’d rather be warm and protected from the elements than content and worried about the sun moving or wind or sand.I personally recommend this umbrella!

Not great for east coast morning beach time...
So, this umbrella is well made. I have no complaints about the material or components. TL;DR if you're east-facing in the morning, this is probably not usable.Let me explain why I bought this and for whom - I'm a mom of 3 young kids that was hoping for something I could set up in between chasing the baby around and getting the bigger kids sunblocked and boogie boarded. The first three times, I struggled to do this in less than ten minutes. I've gotten better though!Laying it on its edges, as designed, and staking it down hasn't worked for me yet. It's almost blown away both times and I had to take it down. I'm in northeast Florida, near Daytona Beach. The laying down position doesn't work anyway because to face the ocean, where my kids are, the umbrella offers zero shade. We're there like 8am-12pm.So, I decided to use it as a regular umbrella. Again, after three times of trying this, I have not been able to get it to stay upright. The auger bit goes down quite easily, but it leans so far and rocks back and forth so much that our beach chairs juuust barely underneath and it's not really usable. My next trick will be to bring some random canvas totes and fill them with sand to try to anchor around the umbrella. Should work, but it's annoying. Maybe I'll bring two and make it a game for my older two kiddos.

What's not to love?!
We feel as if we are in our own private nook in our Sportbrella! It is a cinch to put up and take down! The stakes are supportive and the ridged center pole grabs beach sand! The zippered windows add light and/or ventilation, if needed. It's roomy enough for two beach chairs, a beach bag and a cooler. It provides excellent sun protection. It can be used on a super hot, summer day or, even on a drizzling day if you need shelter from a short rain shower. It's the best!!!!

Bought a second one 10 years later -- love it!
We just bought a second one of these. The first one lasted nearly 10 years. We live in Florida and it got A LOT of use in the harsh Florida sun / salt air. It held up REALLY well - but the zippers finally gave out and it started to fade a little, so we just replaced it with exactly the same thing. Couldn't be happier -- the new one is improved with a "spiral" thing that grips into the sand making it even more stable. Super easy to assemble - just like the last one.We purchased a new one from Amazon, but it did not deliver the next day as it was supposed to. No problem - we stopped by our local Ace Hardware and picked one up for that day's beach trip and when the Amazon one arrived three days later we promptly dropped it off at the UPS store for an easy-peasy return. Still happy as can be with this product!!!
