I can't say for sure, but I *think* it helped us avoid some keto flu symptoms.
My husband and I recently started the ketogenic diet. My hubby adapted quickly. Me, not so much. I *think* taking this supplement helped a bit, but it's hard to say for sure. Mostly, my "keto flu" symptoms seemed limited to a cloudy mind and fatigue, and I'm not sure that this supplement helped a lot. However, when I showed my food, ketone, and weight diary to my doctor, he was quite surprised at how quickly my husband and I got into ketosis. So...maybe this helped push us along, and maybe it helped us to avoid too many symptoms of keto flu.Pros:- Seems to help with transitioning to the ketogenic diet.Cons:- None that I can see at this time.

Berberine may be the best new medicine in my cabinet.
I am not a Doctor, nor a health professional, and the statements below represent my opinions. You should consult with a physician if you decide to try this supplement. I have kept my Primary Physician in the loop, and he (without endorsing Berberine in any way) is impressed with my results.I have hypertension, and I have been looking for natural alternatives for the prescribed medicines currently ordered, to avoid progressing to statins. With genetic kidney disease (PKD), metabolic syndrome (I can gain weight on a 800 calorie diet! I lose some, hit the plateau, then start slowly gaining again), plus morbid obesity, I am constantly researching for the causes of this condition and for possible remedies to reverse the trend.I chanced upon a story about Chinese cardiologist that gained weight (and all its ills), while a student at Harvard, a resident at Johns Hopkins, and in practice here in the states. He returned to China, and decided to return to Chinese remedies and diet to restore his health. He started using recipes with Bitter Melon and other (not very palatable, bitter) native foods. His results were so remarkable, I begin researching what specific qualities about Bitter Melon (and others) made it so effective. That's when I discovered Berberine HCL. The common ingredient in many of these "home" remedies and foods is Berberine.Berberine is like a "miracle" drug. The FDA had evaluated it for several uses (Literature says it is as effective as Metformin, for type II diabetes, with less liver toxicity), it seems to promote better serum lipid health, and is a narrow spectrum, mild, antibiotic. But that is not the most significant effect for me personally. I take it primarily for its anti-hypertensive qualities. That is what led me to it in the first place. I get all the other benefits that are attributed to Berberine, as well, but lower blood pressure was the primary goal I was seeking.I ordered it from Leaner Living, through Amazon. Within a week of starting 500mg TID (before Breakfast, Lunch, and Supper), I started seeing lower numbers. My previous "normal" BP was 135/110, or higher (not healthy). Within two weeks, I was seeing 110/72 at the local CVS free BP tester. Since those machines seem to register higher numbers than when a nurse tests BP (especially on us "big" guys), I went to the doctor to verify. Sure enough, 108/68 on the FIRST try (we used to have to "rest" a little to get a good number on the second, or third, measure). AND, my Triglyceride and LDL/HDH numbers were batter as well.I am now off Amlodipine (a calcium blocker), have cut my Hydrochlorothiazide (diuretic) dose in half (now 12.5mg), and will soon be eliminating it and also reduce the Lisinopril dose in half, with the goal of eliminating ALL prescription medications. All of these changes have been with the consultation of my Primary Physician. I DO NOT advocate that ANYONE try these changes without consulting with your doctor. Berberine may work adversely with your present medication, please talk to a doctor and review possible drug interactions BEFORE starting on Berberine. There is no data on long term administration of Berberine, while it may be working good for me now, there is no prediction for dosing over 6, or 10, or more years (there is little such information on ANY drug), there may be accumulative effects from long term use (there certainly ARE such problems with ALL the anti-hypertensive medications I was taking, that is why I stopped).I may be a special case, it may be a fluke, but I believe that Berberine has made a remarkable difference in my personal health. Regular lab work by my physician's office has demonstrated the proof.

Stailizes, but Not Lower
I was so excited to try this to help with my glucose levels. It does help. It will stabilize them...but not lower them. At least that is what I found. I have used it for 3 months now, and it will keep my glucose levels constant, which is helpful. I was just hoping it would also help lower them.

This made a beliver out of me!
I got tired of my sugar running from 300 to 380 even though I took (4) 500 mg Metformin ER, (1) Januvia 100mg and (2) Glimepiride Tabs 4mg a day. Average blood sugar reading was 280 to 320 a day. My a1g was around 14. The Doctor wanted to put me on shots (NO!) then I found this a few months ago. My average reading now is 107 and they are getting ready to take me off some of my diabetic meds. My a1a was 7.6 as of last check and falling!I was not paid to give this review nor did I get a free sample to try it out. I bought this with my own money and gave a real life review of what really happen to me. Taking this I even had ice cream (1 pt) and had a blood sugar of 126 the next day! Impressive!Just so it don't look like I'm giving all the praise to this product, I started taking White Kidney beans which lower my sugar 100 to 120 points. Then I started taking this which lowered it the rest of the way. While this may not work for everyone it did work for me, one who's sugar was way outta control! This morning my sugar was 156 but I failed to take my kidney beans supplement yesterday so for me that is still good!

Take instead of metformin
Newly diagnosed diabetic who cannot take Metformin because of severe GI side effects. Glycosolve along with a sensible diet (cutting down on sugars and carbs - not to the extreme...eat more protein, vegetables and good fat) has reduced my blood glucose to the point that the doctor expected from the Metformin and he told me to keep doing what I'm doing. Best thing...zero side effects. For me it works and when I don't take it - was out for 2 days - my bg goes up. Note that I test regularly and keep my doctor appointments to make sure that the disease remains under control and am learning what foods to avoid/limit. All Berberine products recommend that diabetics consult with their doctors before taking Berberine as it can cause diabetics on other diabetes medications to go low bg and Berberine can be contra-indicated with other medications and supplements. Recommend research and doctor consult before trying. I did my Berberine research to find one that did not contain goldenseal and took my chances that Glycosolve is what it says it is. So far, so good.
