Galt Toys, Shape Sorter Train, Wooden Shape Sorter, Developmental Toy, Ages 1 Years Plus

This review is purely for the non-existent packaging - this was a present and the box used to protect the toy, supplied by the manufacturer, Galt, illustrated the toy in full colour and fine detail and was very appealing. However, Amazon, chose to stick the very large delivery label right across the box, obliterating the image of the toy. They failed to package it properly, either in a box or in a bag. Fortunately, the box was not damaged and I was able to remove (with great difficulty) the label, without damaging the illustration - although a large sticky patch remained. Come on Amazon - this was lazy and just not good enough.Two days on and the train was a huge success with the 18 month year old recipient. Beautifully made, colourful, and lots to interest the little boy. Have changed my original 1 star to 5 on the strength of this.

My 8 months old took to it straight away, good quality material. The only downside is that the magnets are quite weak and its not obvious for baby to know which way to attach it (only one wagon had a colour coding that gives a hint, the second one you have to try and see)

We have recently celebrated my granddaughters first birthday and although she was presented with a lot of toys, this Galt Wooden Shape Sorter Train has quickly become her favourite.This wooden train comes with two carriages and four people. The size is perfect for little hands and all of the wooden elements are finished beautifully with no rough surfaces or sharp edges. The painted colours are lovely and bright and each of the dolls are painted to match the colour on the position they sit in the carriages. The dolls are individually shaped on the base with a circle, a triangle, a diamond, and a thin rectangle. All of the shapes fit perfectly into the shaped holes in the bottom of the two carriages. I do think it could have been improved a little by using a better shape like a square instead of the thin rectangle, especially as a square is one of the first shapes that a child learns to recognise.The train and two carriages connect together with magnets. My granddaughter has already discovered that when she places one carriage in front of the other the magnets connect, holding the train set together. The wheels turn easily and smoothly, which makes it easy for my granddaughter to push the trainset across the floor.This is a great first educational toy, which will help my granddaughter to develop her hand eye coordination as well as teaching her some basic colours and shapes.I think this trainset is top quality and have no doubt that it will last a very long time. I don’t think you can beat the traditional wooden toys, especially when they are as well made as this one. I also feel that the current price of £22.90 makes this toy excellent value for money.

Forget all your plastic, whizz bang, battery operated kiddies toys, this is the one you really want for your baby or toddler. Totally traditional in design it is like the toys around when I was a kid, made of wood for durability it will be around long after your baby has grown out of it and available if you have another addition to your family.Modeled as a toy train this has an engine and a couple of wagons behind it, these join together using magnets as couplers. In these wagons you have space for 4 passengers, each round peg shaped, but each with a different shape protruding from the base of the passenger. Each passenger fits into a specific space on one of the wagons which has a same shaped socket in the bottom of the circular hole. These passenger/space combinations are also colour coded to identify where each passenger belongs. This gives a baby/toddler a chance to learn identification, co-ordination and all of the other basics that a baby has to learn as they grow.Being made of wood the toy is very durable and will endure being thrown around without any real worry of them getting broken. The colourful paint design on them also make the train an attractive toy to your little one.In my opinion this is a great traditional and superb value toy that will last for years and educate into the bargain.
