I wanted a low-profile electric plug that would allow me to run a cord close to the wall. For some reason, the hardware store didn't have them, but Amazon did. These were just a little tight on the 18 ga. zip cord I had, which seemed to have slightly thicker insulation than some. That made sliding the plug together a bit harder than I would have hoped, but it worked. Because of the way these assemble, you have to be particularly careful to trim the cord just right, so conductors don't short, but with a little care, it will be fine.

I needed a very small form factor AC plug. We have a water flosser in our bathroom, and there is very little room on the counter. The flosser we use came with a standard (long) cord. The distance from the unit to the outlet is about 7 inches. This meant the coiled up AC cord was just sitting there taking up room and simply looking "un-neat". I came across these and since the AC cord was a small gauge, I figured these would work. They did perfectly. I cut the AC cord down to 7 inches and installed this plug in about 30 seconds. It totally made the counter a lot neater. I included some before and after photos to show the difference. Other reviewers were right, in that these would be a VERY tight fit for larger gauge wires, such as a typical lamp cord.

I don't know why but the DIY stores around here don't HAVE a simple lamp cord plug. They didn't have them a year ago, before the materials shortage. These are for STANDARD cords as are used for lamps. The instructions aren't exactly right. You just cut the cord off bluntly, lay it across sideways and fit it in the slot provided and slide the top on. There are two blades inside that cut into the cord. The plug fits very tight and secure, works very well

These plugs are built for very small wire, #18 and specifically a "zip" type cord. They work by trimming the end of the cord, pushing the end down in a pocket at the end of the plug body, then pressing the cord down onto metal prongs which pierce the insulation and connect to the conductors. There is a very solid slide-on cover which works fine. This is a good system if you have exactly the right type zip cord.. After two out of three failed to make connection with the #18 cord I was using, I threw the whole lot out.

I purchased these to replace plugs on two outside lighted decorations. The plugs are not appropriate for use with small gage wire. I did not know that based on the description. The instructions that come with the plugs clearly state that they cannot be used for the wire typically used on outdoor lights. Perhaps I should have surmised that from the Amazon description, but I didn't. I had to return them.

Got these today and the paper inside states ONLY USE WIRE 18AWG & SPT-2. The description doesn't say what AWG wire and then says "For SPT-1 Wire". I bought 16AWG and it's to thick of wire to work. I'll be going to the local hardware shop to buy more lamp wire.

They repair plugs are not very sturdy and will only work on thin power cords. The mechanism for attaching the plug is difficult to close and can be result in a poor connection. I had to use a pair of pliers to get the cover closed! NOT RECOMMENDED.

I needed to replace a plug on a favorite lamp. I'm a real klutz when it comes to DIY projects. I took a chance and ordered this replacement plug. It was so easy to do. I followed the instructions and it works. I am actually proud of myself for getting that done. I highly recommend the product. Easy to use, works great, looks good and reasonable price. What more could you want?
