A Tale of Two Cities

This is absolutely perfect!😍 This is the exact printing style, font size and page colour I so dearly LOVE!!!!!

I'm rereading the classics in between other books, and A Tale of Two Cities had to be on the list. I had only a dim memory of it, as something of a grand tale, with more of the action in Paris. It did turn out like that, and to be a very affecting story. You have to adjust to the English and colloquialisms of the mid-1800s, but once I did, the story came to life and swept me up. The characters are unforgettable, which is typical of Dickens. The French revolution and its bloody aftermath are felt with frightening immediacy. The personification of places and things is a clever device used here by Dickens and in line with the grand historical events surrounding the characters. I did get lost at a couple of points early in the book, but I'm glad I persevered, for it was worth it. If you're new to Dickens, you should probably start with one of his other books, maybe Great Expectations, but The Tale has to make your list.

Print was little bit off in some places, but very readable and accessible. A history lesson as well.
