Whiskey Words & a Shovel I

Yay
I can see why some people would claim to not like this book. It's not for everyone, especially if you hate men.Yes, Sin is a man, but his writings resonate with the reader. He's not telling a woman how she should live or how she should love. This isn't a man's plea to be loved or male privilege. This is a man saying that you deserve love. That we all deserve to be loved honestly and truly. These pieces are about loving and accepting your worth and settling for nothing less. He writes for and about his love. The woman he loves, that is. And this is not only admirable, but beautiful.

GREAT BOOK
I love it, I got it to help me through a break up and although I felt there were more sad things written it helped me realize my worth and recognize how I should be treated.. how every woman should be treated. After reading this I felt better about myself and let people go who weren’t worth my time. Ever since then I’ve felt better than ever. I think if it wasn’t for this book it’d still be sad over certain situations in life and would still be surrounded by all the negative people who were in my life.

Weird Texture of Cover
The book itself is great with lovely poems within it. Personally, the texture of the cover felt strange and left small finger prints on it when used. However, the finger prints just make it appear more well-loved (at least that’s how I try to look at it). Also, I tried to peel off the sticker that comes on the cover and it left a mark which is a bummer but does not take away from the content within the book!

Love
I love this. I had to pause at times to absorb the words in. Sometimes hit too close to home.

Beautiful, raw, perfect!!
I have never been a huge poetry fan but this book just changed that! I love reading and I love raw emotion, this book is the perfect fix for both! R.h. Sin is a beautiful soul, it spills into his writing and won’t let you go! Couldn’t put this book down and I can’t wait to read everything else he’s ever written!

Great book!
Such a great book of poetry. Very relatable, current, and easy/quick to read. I just recieved the book today and I'm already excited to purchase the second and third books. I enjoy poetry but sometimes the classics aren't quite as relatable or enjoyable to read. (Coming from the perspective of a 23 year old who recently finished college and wants reading to be enjoyable, not to feel like homework)

Annoyed a lot Bc of how much it drew me in. Very well written. This book goes in depth talking about heartbreak.

A handful of pithy verses, but mostly repetition and drivel...
I don't say 'drivel' to be offensive, but after reading a few poems from the 3rd book, I feel this volume to be less of a 'volume of poetry' and more like we are reading a notebook of ideas. I feel as if he doesn't quite know what he wants to say, but is working it out on page...That is not bad in itself, but if trying to be a source of insightful nuggets or as inspiration to get the mind thinking, it feels repetitive, wondering and more frustrating then nourishing. Perhaps this needed to happen to get the much more polished 3rd volume, but for me, this wasn't worth the time...

Every word is worth the read.
A beautiful selection of poems that truly represent a journey of one’s own heartache to realising one’s self worth.R. H. Sin touches on topics that everyone has dealt with, articulating emotion in a way that I wish I could.
