Very interesting book

Good but not easy.
Not an easy read. Written by researchers so there is a lot data. More like a college text. Very interesting and a lot of insight into how SNAP is working to alleviate hunger as really THE safety net for those living and working in poverty since the 1996 welfare reform gutted the help available for those in need.

left-wing propaganda
This book is an example of bad and biased academic research, put together to support a progressives' agenda. It's sad to see that the great American universities have succeeded not only in turning the next generation of Americans into left-wing ideologues, through classroom indoctrination and publishing books such as this one. Just check the editorial reviews: academics and left-wing advocates all scratching each others' backs! I invite any reader with a scientific mind and a willingness to look at facts to examine the studies this book references. Many are seriously flawed.
