Brought a 20 year old condensing unit back to life. If you aren't comfortable working around voltage (PULL THE DISCONNECT AND KILL THE BREAKERS FIRST!) then this isn't the place to be learning but if you know you way around a DMM then this is an easy repair and one of the most common failures on outdoor HVAC equipment. Replace the cap also while you are in there dummy! Both are wear items and will need to be replaced every 5 years or so, or at least they will in Florida where AC is a year round need.Unit worked great the first time and has every time since. No reason to think it won't stay that way.
