This book is necessary if you own one of these cameras
Following the advice of people who reviewed the camera, I bought the book at the same time I bought the camera. I'm very glad I did; it makes up for a virtually pointless user's guide that came with the camera. This book takes me step-by-step through the features and capabilities of my camera. I've used several of them that I know I would never have known about if not for this book. It's clearly laid out and the writing is straight-forward enough for a beginner like me to appreciate. You won't regret this book if you own one of these cameras (and the cameras are great, too).

Guide to Sony DSC-HX89 & DSC-HX90v
The little Sony DSC-HX90v has a lot of features and is quite adjustable to suit the photographer or the situation. This guide is a huge help! The camera companies seem to think it's just fine to publish a tiny booklet with vague descriptions of the camera's capabilities. Just leaving one to fumble around to see what it can do. Pretty much the same as buying a nice new computer and finding that in order to use features you need to go buy a book to get the most out of it. Thank you Alexander White for going into detail about these great little cameras. I may purchase the print version as well since Kindle versions leave a lot to be desired when it comes to illustrations or photos.

Detailed and Very Clearly Written
I found the brief manual that came with my Sony HX80 and Sony's online help guide simply inadequate. With the help of this book I finally know how to make full use of the many features of my HX80. The writing is very clear and is enhanced with a huge number of color photographs of menus and example pictures. I strongly recommend getting the print version to make optimal use of the detailed Table of Contents and Index to quickly turn to the relevant pages to answer specific questions. I see this book as an essential accessory for the HX80 and similar HX90.

A wonderful, should-never-be-without-it accessory to my new $300 camera
This guy knows his cameras, and he's superb at conveying to us the things we want to know. None of that stuff is in the manufacturer's instruction material. If your camera is covered by one of his books, buy that book. It will be written specifically for your camera--not boilerplated from a somewhat similar one.

The Lost Art of Instruction Manuals
Excellent guide to HX90V! This is what the user manual should have been, compared to what you get these days (if you're lucky enough to get anything at all): "the XYZ button accesses the XYZ feature". Gee, thanks, auto-generated, buzzword-filled non-documentation. Conversely, this guide clearly explains all the features in plain English, the intended purpose of each function and why you would want to use certain values (or not). It spells out related settings and why you might use different combinations of settings. It is well-written and easy to follow for the layman photographer. If you own one of these cameras, you pretty much must get this book. I got the e-book so I always have this guide with me on the Kindle app and I can quickly search the contents.

A must book.
Very good and useful book. Without reading it, it is not possible to use the camera Sony DSC-HX90V . As the instruction booklet accompanying the camera is useless for the beginner or amateur. Also these low end cameras are bought by beginners and amateurs, and without simple, detailed and well illustrated book, they can not fully enjoy all features of the camera. This book serves that purpose. I first bought kindle edition (economical) but there are no page numbers, which is confusing. So I have ordered another printed book (expensive),but at least I will be able to use and enjoy the camera fully.

The Kindle version is better than I expected. Well written, well organised and clear.
I bought the kindle version as being especially useful for making the most of my camera for travelling and holiday photography. Having seen the reviews on this version as having poor sample images I found them better than expected and meaningful, especially when read on my wife's iPad. Tapping on the images obviously they expand to a very readable and viewable size. On my monochrome kindle reader the experience is acceptable with again expandable images. I highly recommend the kindle version as a result.Well written, well organised and clear, this book has added to my use and enjoyment of a great compact camera.Thank you Alexander.
