Sharpens the blade very good .
I have sharpened both steel & ceramic blades with this sharpener . Both came out with sharp edges . It only takes 5 to 6 strokes through both of the sharpening wheels to get a sharp edge . The tray at the bottom catches most of the real fine bits of graphite that happen in the grinding process .

These are great, strong knife sharpeners
These are diamond wheel grinding sharpeners, which give you a steady angle. Give it a few passes per side and coarseness and you'll quickly hone any kitchen or carry knife. Just do a slow, steady draw per side at course and then fine grit. You can purchase replacement wheels if yours stops doing the job, but it would likely take a very long time before you need them.My one gripe is that it was shipped in an Amazon bag that leaked. Water got in big time. The cardboard box was soaked. The manual was soaked. An absolute mess. But the sharpener had been shrinkwrapped and was fine. The charger was also not impacted. So - if you let the manual dry out you are fine. Or have it shipped when there is little change of range.Watch your prices, tho. I've seen this vary from around $22 tp $49 for this exact same item.

After 3 Years, I Can Say I'm Glad I Bought It XD
I bought this ceramic knife sharpener back in September 2017. At that time, I'd purchased a ceramic knife from Walmart with a white blade for about $10-12 and saw after extensive use that it was becoming dull. After the usual scouring of reviews here and elsewhere, I decided to give a sharpener a try rather than buying a new knife. The results I got with that Walmart ceramic knife were..."Less than positive," let's say. In fact, the knife ended up with a quarter-inch chip on it after using this sharpener, and since I was past the return date, I simply packed it up in its box and forgot about it for the next three years.About a year ago, I bought a pair of ceramic knives from Big Lots, these with a black ceramic blade. The smaller knife that I use daily became noticeably dull about a month or two ago, unable to even slice a Roma tomato. Again, I thought about buying another knife, but this time, remembered the sharpener I'd bought and went looking for it. Thank goodness I didn't toss it out or leave it packed in a box. After about 20-30 seconds of sharpening, I tried cutting a tomato that was just barely getting a few wrinkles sitting on the kitchen counter, and lo and behold, my ceramic knife sliced through that thing like butta'h! I wish I'd taken photos or a video of the before and after slicing. Next time I need to sharpen the ceramic knives (maybe next year ;) I'll be sure to record a clip to show how much of a difference this sharpener actually made in reviving my knife.I am SOOOO happy that I don't have to buy another ceramic knife, and wonder if maybe the quality of your knife dictates the effectiveness of sharpening it? In case anyone is wondering, the Walmart ceramic knife was a Mainstays brand and the Big Lots set is Thyme&Table.

Works well
We had always had Kyocera sharpen our ceramic knives using their mail-in service, but they’ve closed that due to the pandemic. So I ordered this sharpener, which was cheap enough. Our two larger knives needed sharpening, one of which had two small chips in the blade. The coarse side (slots numbered 1) ground out the chips in just a few draws of the blade, alternating the left and right sides. Three pairs of draws through the fine side (slots numbered 2) finished things off. For the other knife, I gave it two pairs of draws through the coarse side and then three through the fine side.My wife was happy with the results and judged that the knives were 80% of new condition, probably as good as you can get with this kind of sharpener and totally to her satisfaction. This is a low-current device with a small motor. But it doesn’t at all bog down in use and seems plenty peppy.Five stars for a practical, effective, and easy-to-use way to sharpen those ceramic knives.

Takes out the chips, and then some
I tried this along with the Kyocera Advanced and my old Chef's Choice 300, and this wins FOR CERAMIC KNIVES. It took the chips out of an old Kyocera knife, and restored a pretty good cutting edge. I won't say it's factory sharp, but it's better than how chipped and dull it was getting. Being that it plugs in, it really helps maintain wheel speed when grinding a little more material off and doesn't struggle to pull through, as the Kyocera did (battery power only).I tried sharpening my 3 Kyocera knives on my old Chef's Choice 300 (diamond orbit, 2 grades), but it couldn't seem to go down deep enough to remove the chips (it's not designed for ceramic knives, first and foremost), while this unit took it out with 3-4 passes on Coarse. I will still be keeping the CC-300 for all the knives that won't fit in the slots of this sharpener (the slots are a little narrow), but everything else will see this sharpener first. As for steel, I ran my Wustoff steel chef's knife through, no problem, and a no-name chinese chef's knife (not a cleaver, but something smaller and thinner, like a tall Santoku), and both were sharpened well. I ran the second on the coarse side first to remove some cutting edge rust (stainless can still develop rust spots), and then on the fine side to complete the sharpeneing. Finally, a few passes on the sharpening steel/hone (for both knives, actually), and it really put the edge back on.Highly recommend as a good ceramic knife sharpener.

Knife sharpener
Used it to sharpen knives. Don't feel knives were sharp enough after one swipe thru.

Well priced for useful features.
I prefer a plug in knife sharpener because it is harder to control hand sharpeners, and battery sharpeners are too weak for heavy duty. I had one of these for a few years and it got lost in a move, so I ordered another. In about 15 minutes I had sharpened a drawer of knives, both ceramic and steel. Even the straight edge steel knifes cut neatly through tomato skin. This is the perfect tool for general kitchen knife maintenance. Be VERY CAREFUL with your knives after you sharpen. I do two passes on each side, course side wheel first, then finer wheel.

Works well
Works well. 4 stars because one of the discs look misaligned but the device is still functional. I bought this for ceramic knives and it sharpens them with ease.

At last a sharpener for Ceramic knives that actually works
Received this Shenzen electric sharpener from Amazon US in less that 2 weeks !!Conrains two diamond wheels labelled coarse and fine which are easy to clean.Justensure you don't clean the wheels near any food !!Great sharpener , as it easily sharpened my 2 Kyocera in a few minutes. Not quite factory sharp but good enough to easily slice printer paper. A few minutes later I had sharpened a couple of addittional 2 "no name" ceramic knives, and now there isn't a dull knife in the kitchen.Hopefully I will get many years of service out of this Shenzen electric sharpener.Highly recommend this ceramic knife sharpener

No UK plug
I should have read the reviews and buyer beware. This product reviews very well but it is delivered with a US type plug (2 flat parallel pins). Whilst my shaver adaptor could take this plug I did not feel that the connection was good enough. Certainly these products should be made/sold for UK market with a UK plug!!!! Waste of everyone's time.

Very happy
Very happy with my purchase but you may need a plug converter. Luckily I had one that I was no longer using

NOT SUPPLIED WITH UK PLUG
Frankly a bit cynical in my opinion. Maybe somewhere in the small print this is stated but I have a "reasonable expectation" that Amazon and its affiliates should be treating their customers better. BTW arrived in a day via Prime, so this kit is sitting in the UK somewhere and the vendor knows about this shortfall. Functionally works as advertised - a shame the advert wasn't comprehensively honest.
