A Place of Remembrance: Official Book of the National September 11 Memorial

I received this book about 14 days after the order (have to add that it was overseas shipment), the box was complete and in high standard but I received the book with one page unbind so I needed to bind it by myself, but all the rest was O.K.The book is well wiriten and eidited, it dedicated to the 9/11 victims without forgetting the 1993 attack victimes and it well noticed the heroic firefighters and the NYPD who lost their life.It also not forget to notice the memorials outside the U.S. (as in Israel and England,Italy,New Zealand and Afganistn for addition).I find this book very satisfieing.

A beautifully written book. A book that should be required reading for mature students. Let us never forget that which binds our nation together.

Really hard purchase for me. I find anything with 9/11 heartbreaking, but my 8 year old wanted to know more about it. I found this book good to show the buildings, the history, the attack and heroes. No political agenda, and major highlights on the memorial. As much as I want to forget this happened, it is important to not to, and equally important to educate our kids about it.

This book is a must for anyone looking to learn more about the National September 11 Memorial. It can be an easy read and it includes high quality pictures, renderings, timelines, personal accounts, and other interesting factoids. At the same time, it is very educational in nature as it provides ample insight into the Memorial's mission and how it has shaped the creation along the way. Given the sensitive nature of the subject, the book does a good job of objectively navigating the issues at hand and explains how and why certain decisions were made. I, for one, am now anxiously waiting to experience the Memorial in person after having read the book.

National Geographic has covered every detail in putting together a book which will guide any visitor through the Memorial site upon it's completion. Personally, this book showed me exactly where the names of two first respondersBattalion Chief Dennis Devlin and Firefighter Jerry Schrang are located, they both started their careers at Engine Co. 45 in the Bronx where I spent 30 years. Their names are in the South- Footprint First Responders area.National Geographic magazine and it's entire staff should be commended on this beautiful and informative Rememberance to All who perished on that day.

I bought this for a Firefighter friend who along with our local fire department went to the World Trade Center site to help. They lost two very dear firefighter friends on 9/11 who were featured in this book. I highly recommend this book as a keeper to remind us everyday of the brave people who lost their lives in service to their communities. Never Forget......

I bought 2 of these books. We actually printed and bound these books where me and my friend work.We always wanted a copy for ourselves and now we each have one! This is such a beautifully writtenbook and the pictures really take you through the tragic event. Very nice!

I am soooooooo pleased with this purchase. This book has beautiful photographs. I was fascinated by the Twin Towers as a child growing up in Brooklyn, NY and was saddened when they were destroyed. I am really looking forward to visiting the memorial. Amazon has the BEST price for this book. It's makes a great gift as a souvenir or a piece of history.

A very interesting book about the creation of the National 9/11 Memorial, would be a nice birthday present or Christmas present for anyone who has visited this tourist location prior to September 9/11 or indeed who has visited the new National Memorial. Well worth buying.

Visited New York and the 9/11 Memorial Centre in April and wanted to have a keepsake of our visit. Didn't want to carry the book around with us on our visit. Speedy delivery and very pleased with the quality of the book.

the book arrived very quickly, the book details the world trade center catastrophe in very fine detail, it gives you a sense of the grief that a lot of people went through, excellent book.

Very interesting book and gives you some emotional facts about 9/11 and the memorial site. Had me in tears and makes you think about that tragic day even more.

I bought these on behalf of my Brother-in-Law and they were sent direct to him so I did not get a chance to read the book. He was however delighted with the book.
