Great variety, needs a good weekend rain to germinate
I have planted four patches of seeds. You can scroll down for my main recommendations:I was pretty lucky because when I planted the first patch of these seeds, it almost unexpectedly rained that entire weekend. Two weeks later I had beautiful little sprouts coming out. I planted the first few days of June in Zone 8/9 and now I am starting to see some flowers on July 13th.First patch planted (Beginning of June): Truth be told I was very whimsical with my planting. I took a patch of unused dirt next to a walkway that felt empty and sterile, threw around a good handful of seeds or two and then raked them gently into the dirt. Then I used the “shower” setting on my hose to water them. The same day it started to rain, it rained hard on and off that entire weekend. I eventually counted the plants, and in this one patch there are over 100 plants, all with developing buds. :) The picture attached are some of the flowers already blooming. Only a handful, but I expect hundreds more in the coming few months.Second Patch (mid June): I got very confident after this first patch and was, well, assuming I developed a magical green thumb, and decided to grow some more on the side front of my house where it’s lacking more life. This time I didn’t even rake or water. I laid out seeds and let Mother Nature take care of it. I’m impressed because I was chancing the wind carrying the seeds off and getting random, misplaced zinnias in my well manicured garden, but fortune favors the bold in this case, or the garden fairies helped. Either way, they took longer than two weeks to germinate. They only started growing about a week and a half after a very hard and good rain came down.Third Patch (mid June, same time as second patch): along the same walk way as the first patch it’s barren and currently begging to be deweeded in many areas (I refuse to use chemicals). I decided to take the same approach, but test to see if it was watering and keeping soil most or rain that helped, and also if raking makes a difference. I raked in the seeds like I did for the first patch, and watered it. Kept watering it, but nothing came out. But about a week and a half after the day of hard and good rain, I saw these flowers spring up.Fourth patch (mid-June, planted at the same time as second and third patches): I did the same thing with a fourth patch, except this time I did not rake in the seeds, and only watered when planted, then daily. Well, nothing sprung up, despite my avid watering until a week and a half after a good rain. In comparison to the amount of seeds thrown, this patch had the least amount of plants germinating and coming up.So, below are my recommendations for the best planting practices for a great germination rate and flowers:-Soil counts, I prepped my soil for months before planting, you can do this easily with coffee grounds and egg shells.-Throw seeds evenly, then rake in mindfully, but if you are lazy, throw them down before a good rain and you may have good results.-Keep moist, but try to plant the day before or on the day of a good rain for a better germination rate. The weird and beautiful gift of rain: I gave some of these seeds to my cleaning lady, and she planted them and was watering every day! Nothing was growing!!!!! After three weeks, a good rain finally came down and now they are growing. It’s odd how rain can sometimes give seeds the encouragement they need to come out.Update on Aug 5: the second and third photo show the first patch on August 5! The flowers are tall (two to four feet, but around three feet on average), and gorgeous. The zinnias make our very lonely alleyway garden look lovely and perfect for a small stroll. Before our alleyway was barren and neglected, but I am starting to have hope as the zinnias are very low maintenance. I’ve seen several butterflies and bees buzzing around. However, I will note that the earliest planted zinnias are thriving the best. The other patches were less numerous and shorter. However, they are still budding. Will continue to order.

Amazing germination rate!
I put these in the ground, and 95% had sprouted by the next afternoon! From what I can tell they have almost a 100% germination rate- lots of healthy little plants coming up everywhere I planted them. I just got them a few days ago, so I can’t speak to how they will do as more mature plants, but very satisfied so far.

Great bargain!
I scatter the seeds, cover with dirt and enjoy my beautiful zinnias until frost ! I also deadhead the blooms to save for next planting season 😊

Great seeds for Hawaii’s climate.
Seeds germinate quickly here, but have to protect seedlings from birds and other critters until they are sturdier.

Daisy shaped colorful blooms. Tons of seed!
Major disappointment. There were a lot of seeds in the pouch and I planted them in a prepared, composted area in full sun and watered as soon as the soil felt dry about an inch. Almost none came up in the prepared planting bed. A few came up near a couple of shading Aspen trees but still after3 months, they’re only 3 inches tall and barely holding on. I also took a chance a planted them in rows in some non-prepared soil area under a trellis. To my amazement many of them grew... to the point that I had tosacrifice a few to allow for spacing. They’re still spaced fairly closely. I did plant them a little late... June 20, 2020. Today is August26, 2020. I got my first flower... a kind of boring daisy style flower two days ago and two more have come up since then. The blooms are not the spectacular ones I had seen in a neighbor’s garden with multiple layers of petals, so it may have been the wrong choice of Zinnea. One bed, though planted at the same time is more mature than the other spaced only 4 feet away. I tested the pH and it was neutral, water was fine and light requirement was adequate. I can’t discern any difference from the planting area 4 feet away from each other either but one patch is noticeably taller and flowered more quickly. (If you can call 3 flowers to be “flowering”). So there has to be some difference I don’t know about. They tend to want to wilt during the day but perk up after watering. I really try not to water during the hot hours of the day. The wilting, despite a good watering the night before made me concerned. I did find a few army worms but destroyed them and the holes in the leaves ceased. I’m wondering if this entire planting is just going to be Daisy-shaped flowers with beautiful color. I wanted the multiple layer blooms. I’m also planting irises strategically between them so I’ll have growth in the spring/summer, but had to remove only a few. The packet is full of seeds... so many that once I seeded my 3 flower beds, I gave the rest to a friend. I hope he has better luck. It’s been 2 months and finally, I have flowers. It’ll get too cold in mid-October, so I have approximately a month and a half of growth to go. Nevertheless, whether they were the showy flowers I had hoped for or just Daisy style flowers, I’m happy that a part of the planting areas grew. Not sure why they failed in the prepared soil but I’ll be planting irises there anyway. I used a ton of seed as they’re hard to separate each seed. This packet has a ton of seeds. I don’t think it’s the fault of the seed for the non-growth. There must be something about the other plant bed that they weren’t adaptable to. I have purchased a pH, water and light tester though - all looks good. Weeds certainly had no problem growing there. ?????
