Comet CA-SPR Spring Insert for Comet CA-2x4 Antennas

I bought this to see if it would work on my SBB-7 antenna. I go four wheeling and was afraid I was going to break my SBB-7 as it whips around a lot while on the bumpy parts. I added this spring to help releive some of the strain on the base and bottom elements. The bottom element of the SBB-7 is the same diameter as the CA-2x4 Antennas. I modified one of the elements on the spring so it would be the same length as the bottom element of the SBB-7 and then swapped it out. It performs exactly like it did with the original bottom element of this antenna because it is the same length. I would recommend anyone that uses the Comet SBB-7 antenna off-road to do this too. Too bad that Comet does not make this same spring with a little bit longer piece included with the spring for use with the SBB-7 too. Maybe they could sell a few more springs and help the off-roaders too.

It is what it is.It will give you a chance to save your antenna if it hits something low hanging.A spring can only do so much to protect your antenna but it's better than not having a spring.

Easy to install and uses set screws. Would advise using Loctite on those. Now the antenna has some give when hitting low branches or other objects.

Great kit, a bit pricey for what it is though.

Works as expected and swr stayed low.
