Smaller than previous tins, but still a family favourite
We bought a Creme Egg tin similar to this a couple of years ago, and it’s been in regular use since as our sweets tin. I expected this tin might be exactly the same, but there are a few minor differences. This tin has the same diameter, but it’s more shallow. In a sign of the times, it only contains seven Creme Eggs alongside the bag of mini ones, while the one a couple of years ago still has “contains 8 Creme Eggs” written on it. The number of eggs inside is a fairly ordinary grumble, but the shallowness of the tin makes it slightly less useful as a storage tin once the eggs are gone. However the quality of the tin itself is the same, a handy, reasonably sturdy metal tin with durable decoration, moderately airtight like a biscuit tin, but with an easy-to-open lid. It’s still going to end up being handy, I have no doubt. There seems little point in telling you about Creme Eggs of course, they remain the same year on year. Yes I do think the chocolate is a bit oilier than it used to be, but there’s still a gooey satisfaction in eating it from one end or the other. I won’t get into that argument here, but I will say that I prefer Creme Eggs after they’ve been in the fridge, not at room temperature- which is true with other Cadburys stuff as well. The additional 110g bar of Hot Cross Bun flavour Dairy Milk is a nice touch, in keeping with the theme, but it’s not a flavour combination that quite works in my opinion. The cinnamon pieces are too large yet too sparse, so the flavour comes in bursts rather than in every bite, and it doesn’t really come across as reminiscent of hot cross buns, not to me at least. It’s OK, but it’s an odd kind of semi-spiced fruit and nut without the nut. I prefer other flavours.Since I ordered this item, the price on this site has been fluctuating quite a lot. Initially it was a fairly absurd price for what was included, but it’s come down to under a tenner since then, which is less absurd but still very high for what you get, or for what you’d expect to pay for one of these tins in a supermarket. The outer packaging is just an ugly plastic bag too, so it doesn’t feel very giftable. If you are interested in value, and getting the most Creme Eggs for your pennies, this obviously isn’t the way to go.The value is a problem, the presentation is a bit ugly, but the product itself is a solidly four-star staple of Easter time with our kids.

Don't do it!
Wish I read the reviews first, these are the £1.50 ones. Tiny and disappointing for the money. Should have been £5
