NEIKO 12008A 1/4" Quick Change Drill Bit Set | 13 Piece | 1/16" - 1/4" | Hex Shank | Cobalt Coated HSS | For Quick Release Chucks on Power Drills

Had these bits for just over a month and so far they had been pretty good tools. Over the past few weeks, the bits I had used, worked well. Today I needed the 7/64" bit from the set. First thing I noticed was the 1/4inch hex drive body wouldn't fit in my impact driver. I tried it in my right angle drive and it wouldn't fit there either. Other bits did. No problem I'll use a drill with a standard chuck. When I began to drill the hole I noticed the bit itself was not spinning. I pulled back and the bit stayed stuck in the wood and the base mandrel was still in the drill. It appears this bit in the set was not struck properly, if at all, when the bits were being made. I checked some of the others that I had not yet used and the 1/16" also just came apart in my hands. I was going to return them for replacement but that option is not available, even after just over 6 weeks. So I need to replace this set but probably won't buy this set again.

I'm no one fancy. Not a great woodworker etc. But I am over 50 and used drills my whole life. These break easy in my opinion.

The drills are great for ease to quickly install and exchange for doing drilling so more. the only problem I have had is that the drill starts spinning in the base. I've had to use Gorilla glue to try to keep the drill from slipping and coming out of the base

5/32" and 3/16" bits broke free of the hex shank holder on the first use ... but I was able to epoxy them back into place. Who knows how long that will last?! This would have been a better value if the product quality was higher.

Nice set of drills that come with a little rubber holder. Convenient. I am only drilling light metals that at most be about 1/8" thick. Haven't broken one yet, but give me time. Someday I may put a little too much pressure. Bought specifically because they were drill bits for metal and because of the quick change hex shank. Bits are holding their sharpness so far. Been about two months.

Good at first but they are cobalt coated (as described) so once the cobalt layer wears off, they are no harder than regular HSS. They do their job though. Warning - so far I haven't broken any but Cobalt (and Cobalt coated) drills have a reputation of being very brittle so be careful not to press down on them - let the drill do the driving.

I got this drill-set because they have hex shank and progress in 64ths from 1/16" to 1/4". I keep breaking bits in this range and needed replacements. These have served me well. I got them a couple of years ago and have only broken one. I'm a home putterer so don't have much use. I mostly use them to drill pilot holes in wood, but I've used a couple on light metal.

Excellent value in drills for home repairs like drilling into wallboard to hang mirrors, or other light jobs. Drills are conveniently sized in this kit and fit accurately into any quick-release chuck. Priced at about $14, these drills are not cobalt steel -which might cost about $120- but rather are cobalt coated steel and are very serviceable. I use the Neiko drills in rough places and save my cobalt drills for critical jobs in stainless steels. I certainly recommend the Neiko and this is my second set. Best regards, Michael

For the money, I'm super happy with these drill bits. I bought them to hang shelves and photo frames around the house and they did a nice, clean job of drilling through cement walls in my apartment. I've only used the drill bits that are 3/16 or larger so I'm not sure how the smaller ones hold up but the big ones are sturdy enough for home use.

ease of change with extension for longer reach. bit caught a burr loosened drill bit.

used one for the first time to drill a pilot hole into a 1" piece of wood and the bit came undone from the 1'4 hex shank. garbage

A handy set of cobalt coated drill bits to fit my Dewalt Electric Screwdriver, or any impact driver with 1/4 hex head. Handy to have when you need to just punch a quick pilot hole before driving any screw.

These are not built to withstand normal operating torque. I attempted to drills some soft metal with these, and the hex mount bend out of shape - the drill now rotates within this mount rendering it useless.
