I use this product for cleaning the urethra before inserting a foley catheter. I like this product better than the Dynarex swabsticks. The Dynarex were too dry. The McKessen swabsticks have enough betadine on them to do a thorough job, with a drop or two left in the pouch that I like to drip into the catheterization tray to help me rapidly tell when I've got into the bladder (because urine comes out and dilutes the drops).

I had open heart surgery. The doctor told me to use these daily after bath until healed. Sent me home with just a few from the hospital. I ordered these because I knew the brand. They were perfect! Some reviews said dry, but when you open look down in the pouch. Always extra liquid settled in bottom. Every pack I had was saturated well.

If you have to do any injections, medical procedures around an opening, or wound care while on the go, these swabstick packets are a necessity. The packets each contain 3 large head swab sticks generously soaked in povidone-iodine which is the recommended solution to use before inserting a medical device. There is an indent near one corner of the packet to help you tear it open so there is no splatter of the povidone-iodine. Due to gravity the swabs may not stay soaked but there is plenty of liquid at the bottom of the packet just dip the swabs into it if they appear dry. It's convenient that each packet contains three swabs for anyone who needs to prepare the skin for a medical device like a catheter, a 3 wipe method is recommended. The packets are nearly flat, lightweight, and discrete so you can keep one in your pocket or purse for use when needed and they are well sealed. I have not had one packet leak on me ever. These are also great for hiking or camping trips to sterilize cuts, scrapes and minor burns without having to worry about carrying a liquid wound cleaner, or keeping the applicator Sterile, as each individual packet remains sterile until opened. Other brands seem to dry out or have very little solution so if you want the best get these.

The swabs are nice and big and there's plenty of iodine in each packet. Very easy to open, too.

I bought these for the convenience when going on a trip. They were anything but that. First off, there are three in one package. We only have two nostrils so no clue why they put three in a package. Secondly, they are huge! Thirdly, they are so messy. The iodine leeks everywhere. My elderly mother got the mess all over her sheets and pajamas. Not the most convenient product.

These are definitely 3 to a package povidone swabs, arrived on time and are as advertised. I would have rated them 5 stars, except that they are so saturated that the packages have to be very carefully opened, as they are FULL of povidone. If you buy these (and it's not easy to find 3 to a package swabs), be sure to open them very carefully, and preferably over something you don't mind being stained by the povidone.
