A quality kit with all the parts you need
I installed this in one afternoon. While I gave it 5 stars for ease of installation, it’s not easy for a beginner. I’ve got mechanical repair experience, so it was easy in that everything fit like it should and all the extra parts were there that you should replace at the same time.I recommend watching a YouTube video first (there are several out there).Having the pinion gear in the kit was great since I hadn’t realized that was worn badly also.

Easy install, steers like new!
Product arrived promptly. Install was straight forward and not difficult. After install John Deere D170 with 350+ hours steers just like new, maybe even easier to turn. Reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Time will tell
This appears to be well made, but the last one of these "kits" I purchased only lasted a couple of years before the pinion gear teeth and the steering sector teeth were worn so badly that I could barely get the mower to turn. Hopefully this one will last at least the 8 years that the original factory set lasted.

John Deere steering replacement kit Works great and pretty easy to install see Youtube
All the parts were there. Fast shipping - no where local to buy it in Niagara Ontario Canada. Happy with the purchase. Lawn mower is turning quick and easy now. Thank you

Fingers Crossed Again
For anyone with a John Deere lawn tractor, you know that the Achilles heel of the machine is the steering. This is my 4th or 5th replacement of the plate and gear because the forces are too great not to wear and ultimately tear up the teeth. That said, the parts installed as usual and everthing needed was included. Now it is an issue of longevity. Hopefully the steel is hard enough to withstand the forces.
