Toe Box From Heaven
I literally had to stop running and was moving toward avoiding walking as most shoe manufacturers, Nike, Brooks, Asics, New Balance - I have tried them ALL - makes shoes that force your toes to crowd and over lap. Over time this became cripplingly painful. Or they make a wide version where your toews have room but your arch and heel slop around.I saw these in a running store a couple of years ago. The wide toe box made for a funky looking shoe which almost made me say no. But I relented. I still own the first pair as they are made incredibly well and DO NOT fall apart. I ran over 1000 miles on them. The first pair was really a cross trainer. This pair as in the picture is definitely a running shoe. I typically do 150 to 200 miles a month. Never, ever any foot or toe pain. EVER!I change the insoles occasionally if and when a blister occurs, but these shoes are bullet proof. My schedule is to buy a pair a quarter in training for my Camino de Santiago walk next fall.THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU ALTRA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The perfect athletic shoe
I've been searching for a great comfortable shoe for the right price and finally landed on Altra. Love these! This shoe is extremely comfortable and light. I went jogging in them yesterday and they worked perfectly out of the box. They have great cushion and support. No insert necessary. I love the fact that they are a bit squared off at the top of the shoe, which is perfect for my feet. My toes have plenty of room. Never understood why other shoes are more pointy. What I also love about them is the grip of the soles. They can also be used to hike rocky areas, which I do often. A friend of mine used these to walk across Spain and raved about them. I am so happy I listened to him!

Excellent Shoe, But One Drawback Which May or May not Work for you
Overall this is a very comfortable shoe with a soft upper, excellent cushioning, and unparalleled comfort. The only problem is the poorly designed outsole which could be a no-go for some people.Pros:-Luxurious comfort-Excellent fit-Perfect blend of cushion and what Altra is known for with its wide toe box and zero drop-Fun Styles-Quick ShippingCons:-The only con I have with this shoe is the perforated outsole. (See picture for how it looked after one lap around my block)It is incredibly grippy, but this also makes it very loud when you are running and it picks up and holds onto every pebble, pine needle, and piece of grass you run over. For me this was a deal breaker because I wear my shoes inside and out, and when you bring them inside after that then they scratch floors and leave debris behind. If you only wear them outside, this is the shoe for you. For me, I went with the Altra Torin which I feel had all the same excellent features but with a better designed outsole.

Shoes shaped like the human foot
My mother had this weird phobia about going barefoot. She feared diseases & the appearance of poverty, I suppose. From the time we were toddlers my siblings and I were required to wear shoes. So, my feet are kind of messed up from wearing modern shoes.I’ve never understood why most shoes are not made in the shape of human feet. The toe box of most shoes is rounded or even pointed, resulting in the toes being squished together.I saw these shoes on YouTube. I’m not ready for barefoot, minimalist shoes (if ever), but these shoes are a good transition. Room in the toe box for the toes to spread, no lifted heel, which requires some getting used to. Enough padding for a person who heel strikes while walking. I don’t run so I don’t know how they work for that activity. There’s belief in the fitness community that sneakers are over engineered to correct the problems they actually cause. (Hello, Hoka!) I’m hoping with time, exercises & wearing shoes meant for human feet, I will be able to correct my own foot problems.***Further info re these shoes. I still like them, but they pinch. The toe box is big, but not quite wide enough, unfortunately. I’ve purchased a pair of Fitville shoes, and they work well for my wide, aging feet.

Very comfortable
This is my fourth pair of Altras. They fit my feet very well and I’ve never had an issue with quality or how long they’ve lasted.

Comfortable but tread is coming off sole
Really liked the shoes but only a few months in and the tread is separating on both shoes. Shoes are not cheap and I should have received a better product for what I spent. Disappointed.

Mi primera vez
Es un excelente par de tenis, muy suaves y ligeros. Solo deben tomar en consideración que son amplios, por lo que les recomendó comprar media talla menos.

Wide toebox - seems to help with over-pronation
I bought these as i began running alot and my other Altra's (pre-pandemic) were so deteriorated that they caused me plantar fasciatis That being said, after some physio and such, it seems that these shoes are good for my running style.I'll note that they feel very grippy, with a good amount of cushion. The bottom so far seems durable, but we'll see over time. I also like the laces, they seem to remain tied, unlike my previous altras. My only gripe is that for some reason, i don't seem to be getting a good heel lock in my right foot.

Schuhe ohne Sprengung
