Size: I’m 5’9” - average build, kind of skinny (but you CAN trust me!) I weigh 157 lb. and the medium cost is a perfect fit. I’ve worn large Chef coats in the past and they sometimes were a bit big. I’ve recently lost about 15 lb. and the medium still leaves me with some room to move.Quality: Happy Chef makes good stuff. I was a HS Culinary Arts teacher for 13 years and we had old Happy Chef coats hanging out years after they’d been left by graduating students.BTW: The grey/black coat looks really sharp.FEEL: Very lightweight w/o feeling cheap. The sleeve cuffs dried very quickly after sweat soaked them. The coat dries quickly after getting damp. (DISH PIT)I honestly felt fairly cool after 5 hours busting suds in a busy dish pit (the disgruntled dishwasher quit by 5 pm!)Stains: We will see. I’ve got a couple oil stains from the first wear... we’ll know how well this coat jettisons stains after I dry the now washing coat.***stay tuned!***So... the oil stains stayed put. :(Trying a pre-soak with a stain fighter spray overnight.*Pro Tip: Using OxyClean & hot water + OVERNIGHT soaking has removed even the most persistent stains over the years.I’ll try that technique too and let ya know.BUT - this coat ain’t a magical garment that mysteriously repels all stains. “It’s cool but not magical.” That’s okay. My review of 5-Stars stands.UPDATE: Definitely not stain proof. The oil stains held tight, even after a nightlong soak. Oh well.I did get a second one, since the coat is cool feeling when I wear it.

it is like wearing nothing
I work in a high volume environment, and as with most kitchens, it's hot. This jacket not only looks sharp, it is like wearing nothing. It is light, roomy, and helps to keep me cool. I usually don't wear a short-sleeved chef jacket but thought I would give it a try. The jacket fit perfectly right out of the package. I just washed it and it's still looking very good. I'll update this if anything changes in regards to quality, stitching, and buttons not staying on but for now, I highly recommend this jacket if you want to look good and stay cool.

I'd buy it again
I would definitely recommend sizing down. I'm 5'11, 210 and I usually wear an xl shirt of any kind. I ordered a large one of these and it was way too big. I returned it and ordered a medium and it fits fairly well. I don't think I could comfortably go any smaller. The sleeves could be a little shorter, but they're fine. It's comfortable. I'll give it a 4.

Quality - and stylish!
All I can say is what others tell me:"You look professional" and "I just can't get over how you look in that coat"(and feel good too!)I'm a fairly average sized guy (5'9 and some fractions, 165 pounds, 40.5 inch chest) and the medium fits me better than most other jackets I've worn. This is a comfortable and lightweight jacket. The upper venting keeps your body heat off of you, yet I sometimes think this jacket should have underarm venting as well. The jacket itself keeps most, but not all, cooking heat away. All-in-all it is just as comfortable with temperatures as traditional thicker, heavier non-vented jackets. It's flexible and doesn't weigh you down, a huge plus personally. I've yet to see the durability of this item - only owned it for a few weeks now. I think the buttons and some stitching could be a weak point, and it's definitely not meant to get greasy. This jacket seems to handle small splashes (not that you make a mess, right Chef?) with ease, can clean up with just a wet towel, and handles machine wash easily. In summary,4 out of 5 starsA solid buy. You look great, feel better, stay cool, can move comfortably, and it only maybe possible might need underarm venting to be perfect.

"Feel Like a 5-Star Chef Without Breaking a Sweat!"
I never knew a chef coat could make me feel this professional and *this* comfortable at the same time! The **Happy Chef Men's Vertex Short Sleeve Lightweight Chef Coat** is a game changer. It's lightweight, breathable, and makes me feel like I’m ready to take on a Michelin-star kitchen—or at least impress the family with my home-cooked meals. The short sleeves are a blessing, especially when the kitchen heats up (and let’s be real, it always does). No more rolling up my sleeves or feeling like I’m about to pass out over the stove. The fit is perfect, and the material somehow stays cool even when I’m trying to flip burgers like a pro on the grill. The best part? I look like I know what I’m doing even when I’m just tossing together spaghetti. It's durable, easy to clean, and still sharp after countless washes. If you’re a chef—or just someone who plays one in their kitchen—this is the coat for you. Cooking has never looked (or felt) this good! 🍳👨🍳
