Hours of playtime!
We have two Border Aussies - one is 12 years old and the other one is three months old. We had a few treat dispensers the older one loved playing with, but the puppy wasn’t strong or big enough to handle yet.So, I purchased this toy in hopes of getting our puppy the treat dispensing experience - a little more her size. It’s very soft, chewable (yet chew proof), rubbery material, yet, it’s tough and durable.Well, you know what they say about the best laid plans… So, as it turns out, the older Aussie loves this toy. She is also the only one strong enough to bend it in such a manner to get the treats out. However, that does not deter the puppy one single bit. Our puppy never gives up! And I do mean, never!!They take turns chewing on it, and running with it. When one of them drops it for a second and gets distracted, the other one picks it up and takes off. It’s become a highly entertaining toy at our house. What I love about this toy is the versatility. Both senior dog and puppy absolutely love it. You can roll it, you can toss it, you can spin it. They play with anytime they get a chance.I’ve put treats inside, peanut butter, and most the time it’s just regular old dog food. I don’t think they care what I fill it with, as long as they are rewarded somehow for their determination. It is so small that sometimes it will get lodged beneath the piece of furniture or the couch, and I’ll have to go hunting for it to fill it for them. When they’re done playing with it, and I find it lying in a lonely corner. I pick it up and put it on the counter until the next time I notice they need a distraction. This keeps it interesting and fresh for them, and makes it easy for me to find to fill. It’s so affordable, and it’s been such a fun addition to doggy playtime at our house. I hope it works out just as well for you and your furry friend!

Breakfast is now fun! Good toy for dogs that aren't the brightest.
Update January 2019: I've had the size Large one for months now. My dog is still into it when I fill it up for him. Still kind of a pain to fill, but he'll stick with it until its empty (unlike some of his other toys, even ones he's figured out). I have since introduced my dog to my boyfriend's dog, and they basically spend all their time together, including meals. So I now got a size small (my dog is 60 pounds, his dog is 15). His dog also isn't the brightest (I call them Dumb and Dumber, or Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumber, but trust me, it's loving. I adore them). But she is also motivated enough to use this toy. I have also since moved and gotten a dishwasher and haven't had any issue washing them occasionally in the dishwasher. I try to save that for every few washes though, and usually just rinse and set to dry between daily uses.My dog love this. He's way more engaged when he gets his breakfast kibble in this toy instead of in a bowl. He uses his nose to nudge it around the living room and eats the kibble as it dispenses. He's not the fastest eater, but this makes his breakfast last even longer, which is good.My dog also is not mentally gifted. In fact, he's kind of dumb. He's totally loveable, but he's just not so smart. And while he is food motivated, if he can't figure something out relatively easily, he'll give up, despite me trying to help him. I can't get really tricky puzzles, he'll just give up. What I like about this is that I could start it really easy, with the two halves fairly far apart so that each move produced a lot of kibble and he got rewarded quickly. Over time I closed the gap so that now I can screw it all the way shut leaving only two holes where the kibble can get out. He still loves it even though it takes him much longer than when we first started using this toy.He now has a very positive association with this toy and is always excited in the morning when I pull it out to use for breakfast. He's a power chewer so I don't leave it with him after breakfast (just in case) and so far it's holding up really well. I just wash by hand and dry in a dish rack each morning after breakfast. I don't have a dishwasher anyway, so no idea if it's dishwasher safe.

Works great but my dog can't twist it
We put peanut butter and kibble in this thing and my dog loves it. However, he's unable to twist it open. He finds more enjoyment rolling it around until we finally twist it open for him.

Perfect for a small breed puppy or a toy sized dog.
I bought this for my sisters Minature Dachshund puppy, when they stayed with us this Christmas. It was a hit with her and the puppy. It has good bounce, is easy to open, super easy to adjust the opening to dispense treats or kibble and clean up was a breeze. The dogs had a blast playing with it.I love these treat dispensing toys. I use them as feeders, especially when there's more than one dog in the house with different diets and speeds of eating. You just set them down in front of the right dog and away they go until it's empty. It's fun to see them figure out how best to get the food out, and how to get the toy out of corners it is inevitability going to get stuck in. So much fun! It's also great way to get a senior dog to exercise, or just enrichment for any age of dog. Its helpful with seperation anxiety as well. You could put a combination of wet and dry treats like a kong, but much easier to clean because you can open it.I also like these better than snuffle mats. I always worry about snuffle mats and that the dog might eat a part of the mat or something like that and just general hygiene. This one is great for small dogs and seems very durable. It's made out of a tough rubber (outer) and a durable, easy to use, plastic internal screw holds the two pieces together. You just screw it together until you get the desired opening size for the treat or food. It works even with small breed, very tiny kibble.I highly recommend this item, seems like it will last for years and was even a fun toy empty.(If you have a larger dog this one is fantastic https://www.amazon.ca/PetSafe-Kibble-Nibble-Feeder-Medium/dp/B005BOMPWG/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&ref_=ox_sc_saved_image_6&smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&th=1 , we've been using the small size for three years with my miniature dachshund (and the medium-large I bought as a gift for a lab), and even the new puppy loved it despite the larger size. It holds way more, so is good for full meals and regular sized kibble and comes in two sizes, suitable for small adult to large breed.)If you found this review at all helpful please say so, thank you.

My dog loves this with peanut butter. Great for dogs that need distraction or calming. This is our 3rd one for our dog who is 5 years old.

Not loud and very practical!! (but smelly)
The media could not be loaded. Update 09/11/2020After a few weeks of use and washes, I can confirm that the toy still has an overpowering smell. I have a very weak sense of smell and yet I can smell it across a room. very strong and cloy. Reducing a star. Not sure why a pet treat toy would have such an overpowering smell. The pets are supposed to be able to smell their treats through it!Original review-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------By the royal decree of her highness, it was decided that a treat dispensing toy is required. However the ones we ve bought in the past have been duly hated because mostly they are hard plastic and make a LOT of noise on non carpeted floors. To her highness, those sounds are the rattle of a death machine ready to take her life any minute. No kind of high value treat is good enough to put her life on the line.GOOD FITHer royal highness is around 18 KGs. Medium size bought as per package directions, fits perfectly.THIS BARELY MAKES ANY SOUNDThis however is made of mystery 'rubber'(synthetic or otherwise, unknown). Therefore has pretty much low thump on hard floors. WIN! As you can see, her highness immediately took the charge of treat dispensing duties, usually delegated to the slaves.ADJUSTABLE SLIT SIZELet me just start by saying that I havent seen a more practical application of adjustable opening. not many toys are designed for irregular sized treats and in other cases, teh size adjustment is irreversible. I absolutely love the adjustment feature. Simple and practical.THIS IS NOT FOR AGGRESSIVE CHEWERSThe toy is relatively soft(felt softer than Red kong) and could break easily on the internal pivot point(screw). Her highness believes in small and soft royal bites, with her fully grown and functional royal teeth. Not like the plebs slobbering over a toy and chewing it like they've never seen a treat in life.NOT ODOURLESS OUT OF THE BOXI am not sure why but unfortunately pet product manufacturers seem to drop the ball when it comes to odours. This came in reeking strongly of 'rubber'. thankfully one wash with dish soap almost sorted that out. I would seem that the odour would be gone within a few washes.
