Esoteric Antenna is delighted to announce the release of a live album by legendary guitarist STEVE HACKETT and the gifted Hungarian group DJABE. "Summer Storms and Rocking Rivers" was captured at a concert in Bratislava in July 2011 and a concert in Budapest in November 2012. The music within this release features well known Steve Hackett solo material such as The Steppes and Ace of Wands, alongside legendary Genesis material such as Firth of Fifth, Blood on the Rooftops, In That Quiet Earth and Los Endos. Djabe formed twenty years ago and are one of Hungary's most acclaimed Jazz groups in the world. Playing a fascinating fusion of jazz and rock styles and featuring a line-up of Ferenc Kovács (vocals, trumpet, violin), Zoltán Kovács (keyboards), Attila Égerházi (guitar, percussion), Tamás Barabás (bass guitar) and Szilárd Banai (drums), Djabe have performed many concerts globally since 2002. In 2007 they began their association with Steve Hackett, who has appeared on the concert stage with them, performing both Djabe material and Genesis and Hackett solo material. At the Garana Jazz Festival in Romania, Steve Hackett & Djabe performed to an audience of 13,000 people, and now Summer Storms & Rocking Rivers captures wonderfully the magic of this collaboration on stage. The DVD (NTSC - Region Free) included in this two disc set features a concert in Bratislava in July 2011 and also includes bonus features of a short documentary, the piece Jacuzzi / Overnight Sleeper, recorded in November 2013 with the Hungarian Symphony Orchestra and the promotional video of the song Tears for Peace.

Hackett Light
This album is actually quite interesting. Djabe is quite a good fusion band that plays a sort of mellow Jazz with Eastern European influences. Steve Hackett involved with this project makes it even more interesting musically. The music for the most part is quite relaxed but not unplugged. Djabe and Hackett give great energy with both artists works. Steve's best tracks are Last Train to Istanbul (Close to the original.) and Ace of Wands with Trumpet taking the lead. Performances are good by both artists but the DVD of the show quality is OK at best. A little grainy in the picture quality but still very watchable and the extras are clearer. I wish it was a 2CD of the complete show. You only get the highlights on one CD. But for someone who likes World music with a a little Progressive rock I think most people would enjoy this set.

Fantastic performance. .. below par video quality!
This is a truly great performance. Djabe are great and Steve fits right in. My only minus is the image quality, whilst watchable is firmly in the SD range but dont let this put you off.

The performance is as good as you might expect from these musicians
The performance is as good as you might expect from these musicians: brilliant! Mind you, this is a Djabe concert with Steve as a special guest. The only thing that is a disappointment is the picture quality of the dvd. It is wachtable, but nothing more.

More jazz than prog
Jazz and prog are almost like siblings. They do tend to share some of the same areas of music such as long tracks, more instrumentals than other genres and very music orientated [intricate, precise].This is a 95+ minute show of mostly instrumentals with a few Hackett/Genesis tracks thrown in [shorter on CD].Rehearsals and some other stuff totaling maybe 35 minutes are extras.

Elegante e ben suonato.
Musica piacevole da ascoltare, eseguita da un eccellente gruppo (Djabe) e con un ospite di riguardo (Steve Hackett). Per gli appassionati dell'ex-Genesis un acquisto consigliato.
